I have a good idea, but I want to hear your answers......Northern WI, about 1/2 mile back in the sticks.....I added the Buck picture for size reference....
thats what I was thinking cougar. The tail could be just off to the side and thats why you cant see it
A cougar will swish it's tail back and forth like any other cat. You can see the tail on the far side of his body semi-curled as if it's ready to come back towards the camera. The "black tip" referred to in another response appears to be ground clutter and not attached to the cat. Also the size in reference to the buck indicates the cat is too large for a typical bobcat. I guess the only way we'll know for sure is for you to get out and put it down to settle this. Good luck & stay safe. See photo.
You guys really need to get into trapping... :D Half a second after opening the first pic told me all I needed to know. Bobcat, and it's not even close to being questionable.
LOL That is the first thing that popped into mind when I glanced at the first picture. Looks like a very big bobcat to me. Tim
I betting on it being a mountain lion. It seems to be fairly solid in color. I think if it was a bobcat there would be some color variation.
