I have some bad news, that I was hoping would get better, but it's not likely, and I'm officially OUT as my mother-in-law, also my daycare provider fell down some steps and broke her hand and wrist, won't be able to help me out as was previously planned, I'm going to be without daycare for my kids. Therefore all my working out, planning and excitement is going to have to be pent up until NEXT year. I'm just pukey sick thinking about this however, I have to be a Father/Husband first, and that is what I must do. I hope you all have a wonderful time, there is a fair bit of success, and everyone has a SAFE trip. NEXT YEAR my sorry butt WILL be on a mountain, that I KNOW!!!

What binos is everyone taking? I have some Zeiss 7x32 but cannot help thinking they will be too small. will 10x42s be a better bet?
I prefer 10x or 12x binos. It's a vast landscape as Matt's pictures illustrate. The bulls must be four points or better on one side (or have a 5 inch brow tine on one side). Positive identification from a distance will save you time and steps. We may have a Kiwi and a few Springboks joining us...this is going to be quite the internation affair. Us yanks are truly going to be blessed.
I'm bringing some 10x42's...was really happy with them on recent CO trip when viewing Elk from a distance. Bought some new carbon shafts last night...gonna make up my Elk killin arrow this weekend. Actually a little chill in the air this morning on ride to work with top off my Jeep...we're on the downhill side of summer...
I'm using my 8x42 Bushnell's , they should be fine . Take your 10x Mark , they will be great . This is turning into a proper international affair :p
I don't leave home without my 10x42 Leupold Golden Rings. I noticed that Cabelas is having a $200 off sale on them ($100 sale + $100 rebate) if anyone is interested in some quality optics. You can get them for basically wholesale price from Cabelas now.
I think I'll stick with my Zeiss 7x42s they are not a super powerful magnification but the light gathering is phenomenal as they have an exit pupil of 6mm that’s 1mm larger than my pupil at low light!!
Good thing you guys brought this up. I completely forgot about this. The bino's I have now are Bushnell cheapys so I need to go out and get a decent pair here soon. I also need to go out and get a good, quality camera. Why can't money grow on tree's??
Steve - if you find one of those trees...let me know One thing I plan to purchase soon is a pack frame "just in case"...any of you are welcome to use it as well if you have success...or hopefully I'm nearby to help out.

My Bushnells haven't been good. I've owned probably 3 to 4 pairs. Glad yours are good for you though. Mine were good for a while but have really lost power. I'm going to spend some cash this time and hope to never buy another set again. Last year I was glassing what looked to be a good buck 80 some yards away. I couldn't for the life of me see how big he actually was. Never again do I want that problem.
Also stay away from Opticron (i think thats how its spelt) I bought a pair recently for only a few 100$$ less than some Zeiss. They are going back to the store at the weekend, they are terrible!!! Meiopta do some nice binos at a good price I had one of their rifle scopes for a while it was a great piece of kit! I also have some Samsung compacts which live in the back of the truck, Iv'e had these for about ten years and they HAVE been abused, still great binos though and really cheap. They don't fog up, loose focus or allow dirt inside.
Steve, I think Cabelas has a deal going where you can trade in your old binos and get $30 off a new set. You might check into it.
