I spent 10 hours putting in Fall plots yesterday on two properties and plan on heading back out after work today. We are really dry now after having a very wet early summer but we have some decent rain chances later in the week. The deer are hitting the mock scrapes I put in a couple of weeks ago and some new bucks are starting to show up. I will put out mock rub trees this weekend and start a few more mock scrapes and licking branches. I mowed some trails in the timber and have a couple of new ladder stands to get put up now also. This is the most time and effort I have put into a deer season for over 5 years. lol.

It's been 60yrs since my first bowhunt and I'm still going at it, albeit with a xbow nowadays. I've been working fall food plots on my farm and set out some bait piles on other farms (only does/fawns have showed). Our MD season opens this Saturday.

Two more plots seeded last evening. Unfortunately, very little to no chance for rain for the extended 10 day forecast. Small chance tomorrow and then nothing past mid-month. On the bright side, two of us got 15 doves this morning in a little over an hour. Beautiful cool morning. The deer were really moving.

My buddy and I have put in more plots then ever before. I think we are sitting on about 26 acres split between 3 properties. Mainly soy beans and corn with a couple clover plots and we put in some turnips but it hasn’t rained much so not too optimistic on those. I did pick up 2 more permission pieces that had some big bucks on them the last few years. Both were hunted by a Midwest whitetail guy. Due to some of his hunting tactics I was able to get him off the properties and my buddy and I now hunt them. Haven’t gotten trail cams out yet. We’ve been so busy with our kids stuff and work. Hoping to get them out next week.

My nephew and I are going to hunt Sika deer on Maryland's Eastern Shore this Friday and Saturday. Sika are a small subspecies of elk that live in the swamps. It's always been an exciting hunt in past yrs.

    Hey guys.

First, have you selected a team captain yet?

Second, I see you are still waiting on Josh Myers to check in. He has until 6:00 pm tomorrow evening. If he hasn’t checked in at that point you can request an alternate if that is what you want to do. You can always give him more time if you like. It’s your call.

    Just let me know.

I don't think so LC. Anybody want to volunteer or have been team captain before?

Always on top of things! You rock! Well let you know tomorrow evening if he hasn’t checked in.

As for captain, who wants it?

What better way to gain experience than to be captain. Haha

I'm good with anyone else being captain. I have done it before and would love to see someone else take it. Also, from a greedy standpoint, Josh hunts in Ohio and kills some good bucks it would appear. It would be nice to try to track him down if possible rather than give his spot up???? But again, I am going to go with the flow. It actually looks like we have several members on this team that hunt in big buck areas and kill some good bucks. We could be a sleeper in this contest. Lets make a run at this thing.
