Hey guys, like I said, Travis here. 38. Live in SE Ohio near WV border. Season opener is Sept 28. I mainly hunt Ohio but may slide over to WV some if time allows. Got several private properties I hunt in Ohio. Just picked up a new one that’s over 170 acres…so I’m pumped about that.

I killed my first deer with a recurve last year and that was a rush. Buck came within 2 yards of me while I was on the ground hunting over a decoy. He trotted out to 22 yards and I hit him good. He went 70 yards and toppled over. My buddy got it all on video. I’m planning to use the recurve again. It’s just a lot of fun and I enjoy it.

I run a group with a buddy and some contributors called Shedding Light Outdoors. We video our hunts for YouTube, share some content on social, and I host a podcast called Shedding Light Hunting Stories. I interview average Joes and have them tell their favorite hunting experiences.

Looking forward to the season and getting to know you fellas!

Hey all, P&YChaser, aka Chris, checking in. I’m from SE Wisconsin but hunt the central part of the state. This is going to be an exciting year for me as my two 13 year old boys will be bowhunting for the first time! My number one goal for the season is to get them each a shot at their first deer. Can’t wait for the season to start!

ILbowhntr checking in, sorry for the delayed response.
Trying to get ready for elk in Colorado right now, then on the WT October 1st.
Definitely have some nice bucks on the farm this year. Still need to get a couple cameras out on a couple other properties. Will try to get that done before Friday.

    Hey Travis,

Do you have a link to the recurve video? Sounds like a cool hunt.

I sent a message to the last two guys. A couple orders of business.

Captain- Anyone want to volunteer? I've been captain before and can do it or if someone else wants to, that's fine too.

GroupMe/Text Thread- While I like the forum, it's not as fast of a way to communicate as GroupMe or a text thread. Kind of fun to give updates from the stand, share pics of deer or maps that you don't want the whole internet to see, and we can stay in contact after the season ends. GroupMe is nice because you can mute the conversation for a set period of time if you don't want your phone to blow up. Obviously can still hop on forum too to update and share stories. Let me know if you're down for that and I can drop a link.

Team name ideas (I'll admit some of them are a stretch):
    - Election Deer
    - Did I Catch a 9er in There (Tommy Boy reference)
    - The Flip 6's
    - No De9 Us
    - Bucks Gettin Tipsy
    - Just Gonna Send It
    - 9 Dudes Dropping Deer (this is assuming Swamp Stalker & iamyourhuckleberry aren't women, lol)

I like the idea of you for captain. I like some the names you suggested as well, especially dudes dropping deer. And yes the other two are dudes.

My name is James. I am a manufacturing engineer for Plano Outdoors here in Northern IL. I am married, I have a 2-year old son, and a baby girl due in late December. So, needless to say, my season will end sometime after Christmas. I apologize in advance for that.

Season here starts Oct 1. I'll probably be out for my first hunt the weekend of the 4th. My wife's family farm is 3 hours away, so it takes some planning and PTO to get out. I started relocating stands and blinds last weekend, but quit short of completion. I must've pissed off some ground wasps/hornets with the weed wacker. I stung real good on the hind-end and took off, so that they would calm down. We intend on going back down to complete the work the weekend of Sept 6th.

Other than that property, I have access to a few other pieces late last year. I haven't scouted them, but will put up cameras when we get back down there. I will jump on some public land closer to home here and there when I have the opportunity.

I am looking forward, as we all are, to getting out into the woods. I have some high hopes and expectations this year. Hoping for a cooler fall than we have received that last few years. The 80° Novembers are getting old.

Lastly, I really don't care about team names or the team thumbnail. I will be good with anything really. Good luck this year everyone.

I like the idea of GroupMe/Text Thread. The forum app has issues with photos and the service down on the farm can be iffy. That's a great idea.

Man, that's awesome. You can't watch that and not smile. Great hunt. I'll subscribe.
