That is cool killing deer with the old technology, it can be done I killed deer with a cheap PSE bow from cabalas. Thank god for my local bowshop that looked it over and helped me get started right. Heck an old wheel bow is as basic as a recurve. Do you use modern sights and releases and rests?

I got ride of my HE 250 or 500 few seasons ago for a Pheonix. I can't get it tuned correctly and will give it one last shot over the off-season before selling. Darn thing forces me to torque my wrist to get it shooting right. I seem to be the only one with this issue though.

I've still got a screaming eagle and BE. I'll shoot them from time to time. Leading edge technology 40 years ago... Not sure if I'm gonna make the a fishing rig or sell it.

My first bow kill was with a borrowed 50 yr old Kodiak bear with the same set up. A hunt I'll never forget.
