I've met some characters this year. I was getting ready to walk in today and some guy in a truck pulls up next to me and says, "you know there ain't no deer hunting jn there". I said, "Says who?". He just sits there and says well I mean you can but no guns. Lol. Thanks buddy. Thanks.

Oh boy all 3 of them made it out of the neighbors without getting shot and are headed straight for the public. God speed little ones.

Just saw my first deer of the season about 80 yards away.. LOL! Looked like a lone doe feeding on browse. Nothing following her. I feel like the best hunter in the world right now!! Ha!

Yes you should brag. You prioritize your family and have limited hunting time. You've killed two deer this season. That is fantastic.

Today is opening day of gun season. I made the trek down into my valley an hour before daylight.

About an hour ago this little 8 walked right under me.
    upload_2023-11-11_8-4-45.jpeg

I wasnt going to shoot him at first and then I decided what the heck. I’m ready for this trip to end. He’s dead 35 yards away.

I can still kill a doe with the rifle but I can do that on an easy access ridge top or at home even.

Trying guys I really am. I try to put at least one good aspect of a hunt out there .
    No not this morning, maybe.
So showered last night and clean bedding. I sleep in computer room weekends to avoid waking grumpy. Then the call comes daughter is coming in from City and will need to sleep here because that's over an hour drive and from here to home is an hour and half. 12 night arrival turned to 1a.m. AJ going wild and her needing to share the bed with me. God I love her but at 40 she's still a girly girl and OMG smells like one. OK i figured I was safe just have smell on pj. Apparently not .
I had every deer on the hill blowing at me the moment I hit grass. Sleeping next to her desensitized my nostrils and I didn't notice smell before leaving.
Then she decides right after I leave she needs to as well. I'm out trying to get past these snorting deer that won't run away when the brights on her jeep hit me . There I stand in the open with deer 10 to 30 yrds from me all looking my way as I'm spot lighted. They ran then. Seriously torqued I set up in blind when the not predicted rain starts thank heaven I chose blind even though I was harnessed up.
Sun's arrived and getting higher and I'm on slow steam. 8:40 I just left pulled card on way out even left bow ,not loaded, on tripod.
120 last night and here is the good thing guys. It was doe with fawn this morning. Cam had 2 shooter 8 . Though not any of the monsters. Two smaller 8 one with rt side broken off. Spikes. A doe peeing in big scrape Some more bigger doe than ever seen.
Daughter spotted what she called a huge buck with a broken side down in tree plot.
BTW.. ENTIRE bed right down to mattress pad smelled like her, I guess expensive, perfume. It doesn't help I'm scent free for months and hubby doesn't like colognes. Will head back out in a while.

image.jpg Same story here, no deer yet. I did see the fisher again. I am sitting about 100yds off the swamp looking in that direction. 3 small ridges come together into a saddle. They have been in here feeding on acorns
