Read a good article months ago by a long distance runner who said that you are still a runner even if you stop and walk along the way.....I'm competitive and have set a "running " goal...that guy saying that really helped me. I may run for 2 miles. Walk a mile. Run a mile...walk 3 more miles. Haha

This just sucked on a hot track. Cold bath and beer.

Can I get thoughts on fasting? Successes
    Failures
    Durations?

I did it during covid lockdown. I wasn't working out, just controlling my diet. Ended up losing 20 lbs that way. I would just skip a meal maybe 2 times a week.

Now the down side for me was when I started working out. I tried to continue the occasional fasting. I was lacking the energy to do a full workout and recovery was taking days. So I wasn't fueling properly for the energy I was putting out. There is a balance in there, just got to figure it out.

I think it’s a great weight loss tool for some people and more importantly sustainable. As an “older athlete” I don’t like going that long without taking in some protein. I also have Gilbert’s syndrome so intermittent fasting for more than a few days doesn’t work for me.
I know some people who tried it but went full on Joey chestnut during their feeding window and didn’t lose any weight. Still need to have some restriction of calories. The plus for me was eating a couple normal meals and feeling full as opposed to eating like a bird all day and feeling hungry.

Just counting calories and protein is my preference since 2009

Long story short - we planned a Memorial Day trip to Northern MI. Yesterday morning at 6 am, we had the truck packed, all three kids and the dog in the back, boat hooked up, and my oldest son got sick and started throwing up. So we pulled the plug on the trip. After that, I decided to hit the gym around 8, and since I was in a pissy mood, I decided that I was going to beat 201 floors on the stairs. Ended up at 206 floors in 30 minutes for my new PB. Then I finished with push day and finally got back to benching my body weight. I've never been all that strong, so it was nice to get back to that level. I could probably sneak out a little more with a spotter, but I didn't want to end up on a viral TikTok video, so I called it good.

Today I was running late, so I did a quick 25-minute warm-up on the elliptical followed by pull day. It wasn't my best overall showing, but at least I went!

I don't use it but you should look Todd Graf up. He's huge into road biking and puts up some insane numbers. He may have pencil arms but the man is a cardio machine.

I have heard you guys make mention of him cycling on the show. I will look him up. So far I like the app. But the whole thing of having followers and giving likes is new to me. No social media for me, so this is probably the closest thing I have been to that.

    Ride #11

Was trying for over 30 miles. My bike computer was saying 31.5 miles, but GPS said different. Definitely a hard push for me. May get a second ride in this week on Thursday or Friday. Might head to Virginia to meet up with a buddy and ride some of his local trails. Screenshot_20230530_123156_Strava.jpg

Anyone get elbow pain from doing pull-ups? My left elbow gets sore and stays sore for like 5 days after I do pull-ups. Can't figure it out. Really has screwed up my pull-up workouts

Took last week off while doing a staycation with my dad in town for my son's birthday. Was going to get back to it today, but, I strained my neck at baseball practice Sunday, going to have let it rest a couple of days before getting back to exercise. Apparently, my almost 40-year-old arm doesn't like me throwing out the runner at home from left field without a good warm up first.

But did you get him out? That's the important question!

I get something like that once and awhile. But mine usually last 1 - 2 months. Maybe inflammation? Tenis elbow?

My shoulders aren't great. I cringe ever time I'm throwing a rock out the yard. I once threw out my arm from skipping rocks down a stream! Haha
