Well, my cheapo headlamp of about 5 years just broke while turkey hunting Saturday. It only had 260 lumens, but had a red light and a price tag of about $15. Now, I'm trying to decide to I go with the same or a little brighter. Anyone have a great headlamp in the $50 and under range? There's a Biolite on this page that looks good, but not sure about getting a rechargeable because if the battery dies, there's no replacing it while you're afield.

I can't help you in that. I use a 1200 lumen to find deer at night once they have had a taste of carbon. On the walk in I use a tiny 20 lumen 3 inch light. Hard to spook them with that and in my case I know the ground very well.
I know this is a classic Internet answer that helped you zero percent but I gave it a few days and nobody responded so if nothing else this should bump it for you.

Cheap and functional -Energizer Vision. But a 2 pack comes with batteries $25, 325 lumens at Lowes.

More feature including a lock so the batteries don't die, variable brightness and long battery life - black diamond Storm 350-400 lumens - you can find them for about $35-45

Personally I don't like rechargeable batteries...

I've read of many people saying the Energizer one is really good, good brightness and they hold up well for how inexpensive they are.

Yeah my energizer was durable, bright enough, and lasted years.

I agree with the Energizer. I have had one for about seven years
