On another site somebody mentioned guns are only to be used below 50k. Maybe temperature related, but they mentioned on some planes there's a door that needed to be opened... I also heard more discussion about effective range being shorter with the guns v missile.
I'd love to see an image of the largest chunk of debris recovered. Would it have taken out an elementary or high school? A small home? Just a shed? Nothing at all? Could give a damn what intel we gain from the intel China willingly gave up, they didn't expect their balloon back and they didn't gain much surveillance they don't already have via satellite. They gained intel on how far the US would allow foreign adversaries to penetrate the airways of the US mainland. We failed miserably, in Winter of all seasons. IMO, they proved that atmospheric conditions can be used to attack the US without committing a single soldier. They launch their balloon(s) with whatever biological agents they wish, just have to make them buoyant enough to not sink too fast, but heavy enough to maintain certain elevations. Shoot one down over the Aleutian Islands and the jet stream continues its "agent" into the US mainland. Precipitation and winds mixing down bring it to the general population. Acid rain of the 80's becomes the bio threat of the 2020's. Learn enough about something and you can use it to your advantage.
I've came to the realization arms/ammo only protect what is yours when used for its intended purpose. The future of war dictates chemical suits and filtration means to sustainability of life. For me that only prolongs the inevitable, a WWIII has no winner and the last to die is merely the one that suffered longest. You cannot win a war that can be won with a launch sequence multiple countries possess simultaneosly. You avoid that war, or that war becomes the last.
No here is an instance where a cage match should be mandatory and would be fun to watch. My money would be on Greene!
