instead of going to Africa to hunt - go to Australia? Why go on a dodgy / fake hunt in Africa (look at Cecil the Lion) along with the outrage on social media for killing an animal that probably already has a declining population, for sport. Instead in Australia, the hunting of feral animals for the most part requires no licenses or tag limits, only property owners permission. Youse lot can go boonta on the feral animals - water buffalo, pigs (some of these razorbacks are bloody massive), goats, foxes, camels, horses, cats, 6 types of deer (Chital, Red, Sambar, Fallow, Hog deer, Rusa), the list goes on. The only thing off limits are native Australian animals, many are suffering (or extinct) because on these invasive animals. Not only will the land owners and Federal Government thank you, but you won't freeze your cojones hunting in the snow. And while downunder, jump across the ditch to Un Zud cuz the deer is good eatin
How goes it Kent? Have you experience in hunting in Australia? Once international borders are open, I am looking to do a hunting trip to Australia and New Zealand. Have you had good experiences with outfitters there? Baie dankie
Naas, have done a rifle hunt with my brother in law in the Northern Territory 2014 (he lives in Qld) and shot 4 Buffalo where the bulls can get to approx 2600lbs, also shot lots of feral pigs at 2 watering holes along with Barramundi fising. He has done some bow hunts in Nth Queensland (deer & pigs) and 2 deer hunts (bow) in NSW. He has also done one package bow hunt to the South Island of New Zealand (Red Stag) and raved about it. All of the hunts he did are spot / stalk and in NZ the mountains can get pretty steep but some outfitters may offer blinds. Nth of Aust seems to pretty consistent temperature wise year round at 91F, but very humid & uncomfortable over Dec / Jan (the heat index says it feels like 108F) - sun was harsh but camp accom air conditioned, they say Jun / Jul is the best time to visit, but that is winter time in NZ and it is pretty cold then apparently. He got to know a farmer pretty well who has offered him goat hunts as the goats can be a pain for the farmers and have no natural predators. Once International Travel's reliable, am planning 2 bow hunts with him - one in NSW for deer (Fallow, Red, Sambar, Chital) and the other trip to New Zealand - undecided to go for Tahr or Elk, they say Mar/Apr is best. Hope the info helps
Kent, saw same pics of the Water Buffalo - beasts. What poundage bows do people use- any idea? Have been looking online, New Zealand looks like the place to go on the next overseas hunt
