My favorite time of the year is here! Has anyone made it out yet? I got out for my first walk today. We've had a ton of snow in SW MN this year already but wanted to scratch the itch and came home with #1 and it was a pretty solid one! 1.9 miles 1 shed
Probably going to get out sometime this week/weekend. Have one or two bucks that have one side already dropped which is kind of early for Indiana but I'm ready to put on some miles.
Invested in some snow shoes yesterday. Went for a little walk around my farm place last night and this will be a game changer to get me to areas earlier in the season I never considered before.
I've been laid up with a hernia surgery, but have found 2 so far. Wife found one along the road leading out of town. Tyler ( son ) has drove over a couple times now and found 14. I rode along with him on his last trip over and just glassed from the vehicle. Still a lot of bucks carrying.
Got a couple more short walks in this past weekend. 1 small dead head is all I found. 5.05 miles 1 shed 1 deadhead
Went and checked cameras this past weekend and walked a little but almost all bucks in my area are still carrying both sides. Had two little bucks with half racks. Didn't walk that much after seeing the pictures I had on camera. I'm going to give it another week and check my cameras again. I think they will be dropping good here in the next week or two. I usually wait till February 14th to start really hitting it hard but I got 2 bucks I would love to get atleast a side to or a match set.
Tyler drove over on his day off to help me with a few things since I have to behave myself for a couple more weeks. Then he went shed hunting since he was here. He had a good day and found 11 sheds, a dead head and got pictures of a young buck that seemed to like getting his picture taken.
Heading out now to check cameras and hopefully find my first shed of the year. As of a week or so ago almost all were still holding so we will see. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Ive done some walking but nothing here in SW illinois yet. I have heard of people in my area seeing a few shed bucks on cams but im still getting pics holding
One of my target bucks has shed both of his sides. Got a pic of him with one side and then couple hours later he came back through without the other side. Only reason i know its the same buck he has a abscess by his front leg that just recently popped. He looks healthy tho. But he was the only buck that dropped. All other bucks had both sides on all the camera pics. Walked probably 4 miles only finding a fresh yearling kill. Looked like coyotes got to him. Probably going to wait another 2 weeks before i hit it hard. Bumped 2 decent bucks today also hoping they would drop when they took off lol Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
