Friday was a no go, got out of work too late and was pissed off at a screw up that should have never happened.

Was going to go this evening/afternoon but my brother text me this morning asking if I could change the starter on his Jeep. Said probably, but was 25 degrees when he text. Let it warm up a bit and head there about 1:30. On the way there I see 7 deer feeding on the side of the road(about 45yds off the road). Get to his house and he gets in the jeep, starts it up and pulls into the garage.

Starter sounded fine. Told him I would replace it, but doubt it was the problem. Climb underneath and start figuring out what I need tool wise to change it and the starter wiggled by hand. Eighth inch gap between mating faces and could turn one of the bolts by hand.

Over the summer he wanted me to fix an oil leak, was a rear main seal and a straight up NOPE or me to do. The shop that ended up doing it never tightened the starter back up upon reassembly. Every time he started it the starter would twist and what he thought might be the starter going out was the positive terminal on the battery being tugged on and loosened ebough to not have proper contact.

He's lucky it didn't cause a worse result and wear the teeth on the flywheel. Still might have, as I just tightened the starter mount bolts up and did the best I could with the battery terminal.

Mosr should have been in the rant thread, but end of seasons in the LFTS thread so you all are looking for reading material

    Sue me

Forgot to mention, I may go out tomorrow from 9am to 3pm, just based on the deer I seen this aftrrnoon.

Season from first week in September to February 3rd. 35 doe tags, 2 turkey tags, 3 sika tags, and 3 buck tags. All on same license. I guess Maryland has some good things.

You actually serious about the 35 doe/3 buck tags? Are there that many deer? I’m in farm/swamp country of MN and there’s a ton of deer. We get 3 doe tags and one buck for all seasons.

No the deer population is way down in my opinion. From the numbers I was seeing just 10 years ago to now, it seems much lower. There are properties that hold huge numbers of deer, just like in most states. The problem is just not huge tracks of public. Also with such generous deer tags, it draws a huge out of state hunters. For example PA is one buck and very minimal doe tags, so MD is a popular destination for PA hunters. The entire length of the 2 states are shared. Plus we get a much longer season, so for a PA hunter it's a great opportunity.

Looks like about $205. For the same license I have. Includes rifle, archery, and muzzleloader seasons with a bonus buck tag. If you wanted to buy for waterfowl, it would cost more. Think I pay around $55. As a resident.

That's why you can say you have a ton of deer. I use to say that until guys around here started using all their 6 doe tags and 2 buck. In an area with a very high deer hunting population. Very low preditor hunting population. No year round coyote hunting and a reestablished fisher population.

I’m set up in a brand new spot in Arkansas. I’ve been wanting to check this spot out so I walked in with all of my gear and found a promising spot.

There is an old lock-on 10 yards from me that hasn’t been used in years. I’m on the edge of a cedar thicket with hardwoods to my left and an old dim road running behind me.

There are some counties just across the border in WI that you could bow hunt until the end of December.

Had three does come by at 25 yards. I didn’t see them coming through the cedars and they were past the only shooting window I had before I could draw.

They acted like they had been bumped. A few minutes later a nice 6 point came through following them. If he’d been a legal buck
    I had a 25 yard shot.
