Does anybody else spend a week or so sulking when a hunting season ends? My deer season ended today (and, same as last year, a warm front came through so it was 65 degrees for the past week so nothing was moving) and every time a season ends I always get bummed for like a week straight. I still have ducks for another month and squirrels for another 2 months, but it’s no consolation; just another 2 times I gotta be bummed for a week because a season ended If your favorite pastime was pickleball, or golf, or javelin, or pretty much any other sport/activity and you were forbidden by law to do it for 8 months out of the year, there would be people with pitchforks outside the state capitol ready to overthrow the government. But hunters… we just sit and sulk on the sofa eating macaroni and cheese for a week and cope with it. I should clarify.. I definitely get why it’s necessary and agree with the limits and regulations and such. Without them we wouldn’t have anything to hunt.. but that still doesn’t make it suck less.
Unfortunately that season ended Friday but should reopen for another 3 weeks some time in the next few days...
I was not suggesting that oppossumhunterNC was prone to un natural acts just pointing out the time, effort, and distraction of courting a woman.
Years ago I used to call that the bye week. Menopausal women flip that schedual for a few years, they are nuts 3-4 weeks of the month.
I am older than you but my wife is 7 years younger than me. Thanks for reminding me of the upcoming "fun".
I have mixed feelings when the season ends. I'm partially relieved because the grind is over, but also sad because of the extended time frame in between seasons. But with three small kids and a myriad of sports activities to keep me busy, plus summer time vacations and fishing, it's not as bad as it once was. I also enjoy the off-season scouting and prep work that happens in late winter/early Spring. March is one of my favorite months to get out in the woods.
