Well fellas I hate to do this but I may not take bow to Iowa...this is a massive expense to my house budget and I keep thinking while the temps are definitely getting bow friendly in Iowa....the chances a buck of Iowa walks by at 45 and I just won't be able to shoot it and come home empty at the cost leads me to most likely leaving the bow at home so it doesn't happen.

Leave "tomorrow" tonight shortly after midnight....will keep you guys posted.

    Merry belated Christmas to all!

Guess I’ll have to shoot a 180+ buck next weekend. I got lots of them on camera here in NY. Will see where that gets us.

I’ll be out for sure old carp. It will be a walk in the park weather wise in the 40s compared to the last couple hunts in the single digits. Good luck Ty on your trip. We booked our trip to Missouri and have to mail out or deposit next week so that will make it official. We are going November 5-9th 2023. There are some freak deer out here in NY. This deer was taken on a property I hunt during gun season. I never seen him before. I’m disappointed the season is winding down. It seemed to go by quicker than normal this year.

Today was first day with notable buck action. Mid afternoon in a banks blind I swear I hear something , have one earbud in listening to a podcast and south window is open as fogging windows were an issue (southerly winds).

I reach up and tap headbud to pause it and hear it again and swear I must have a squirrel bout to climb up the leg of the blind. Look out and down a touch and all I can see is tips or antlers. The buck was literally a foot from blind legs.

I quick was trying to gauge what he is as they have 140 or mature buck rule or a penalty…I wanted a 140+ or nothing honestly…he is a clean eight but WIDE REALLY WIDE frame. I just couldn’t add up to 140 as his brows and Gs were solid but not long by any stretch. He made it to about 50 yards and I decided to grab phone to get footage instead of continuing to figure.

you can see the footage if your friends with me on Facebook or go to Small Acre Hunting facebook page as well.

Shooter all day at home, but this is Iowa.

I truly believe if we had normal winter temps it’d be dynamite.
