Good luck Ty. I have always heard about those big old bucks in Iowa.

Mother Nature is throwing 8” of snow on Wednesday with 50 mph winds on Thursday & bringing wind chills to -47° on Friday
That said, I leave for Maui day after Christmas.
My opportunity to harvest a buck is about over…I can get a doe through the month of January but will not increase our point total
    So sorry guys

I’m out, the big track is back, looks fresh. Hopefully whatever it is makes a complete circle back.

The blizzard hits tomorrow and looks like single digits and windy- if I do anything it will be just shoot a few more rounds with my muzzleloader just to extra sure of it before I leave Monday for Iowa.
I’ll be back making a run at last minute buck hopefully soon after

Change of plans, getting all the preparations done this morning before the weather gets here. They’re saying it’s supposed to be -4 and “feel” like -20 with the wind. I’ll do my best to hit the fields this afternoon, I assume they’ll be feeding for the incoming weather

Like I said in the LFTS thread, I don’t have the gear for what’s coming. I realize -20 wind chill isn’t that bad to some of you, but this far south it’s an extreme weather event.

-36 windchill here right now with -8 actual. Crazy cold for us in So IA. The good news is, I have all of my ice fishing gear tuned up and ready to go! It will be too cold and windy again tomorrow to even ice fish. Supposed to get to -50 windchill. But Ty, you are going to hit it when we have a really nice warm-up and the deer will be ready to move around after a few days of hunkering in. Looks like mid 40's when you are hunting. Afternoons and evenings should be good over food sources. Swing through on your way home and show me your trophy buck.

About to leave the house, might have to bring the waders with me, it’s misting but not raining, so I’ll hit the fields and see what happens.

P.S. Everyone stay warm the next few days, it’s going to be a cold one.

Nice trout! I put 100 rainbows in our pond again and hope to be chasing them very soon. I would plan on fishing tomorrow, but the wind is supposed to be close to 50mph and I don't think I want to fight that. Might be pretty hard on the tent if we could even get it put up and anchored. But I am ready when the weather cooperates for sure.

Hang on....I've long thought about a hand tool auger set up but never did it? That an impact or drill? Curious how well you find this works? Tell me more!

No luck, had some doe hit the field until 445 mag dump time. I’m 90% sure I’m being purposely interfered with, but there’s no way to prove it.

It's a 20v drill. I just bought the attachment and need to grab a side handle for the drill, but will let you know how it goes. I have seen them used and was impressed. I have a gas auger that works well, but thought this would be a much more simple process.
