I’m set up for the morning. Had something walk under me while I was setting up. Sounded like a dog or a coyote.

Here's a post some of you older guys will understand. Kinda the real point of going out this morning is to test some new first lite camo my wife bought for me for our anniversary. I really don't expect to see much but I want to try these in cold weather. Well as you get older, you just can't hold your bladder like you used to. Well I get to the base of my tree and the urge is suddenly there and the worst part is I'm wearing bibs! I'm thinking I'll tie my bow to my pull up rope and then take care of business. Nope!! I got to go now. So I don't tie the bow on and go ahead and pee and then I climb into the stand. It's starting to break light so I'm thinking I better get my bow up here. Well you guessed it, I didn't remember to tie it on. I'm pulling the rope in half dark and the bow is not moving. I'm thinking how much slack is in this rope anyway? Then I see it's not tied on so I have to climb down and get it. Talk about a senior moment!!

I just ordered that one from Lancaster. It was on sale and had really good reviews. Not par for a bow shop but seems to be a very good saw for a guy at his house. Ill let you know how it turns out if you havent bought one by the time i get it

What a morning so far! I had 12 does come from the south and got within 20yds. They were west of me and there's a slight east wind this morning. They smelled me and went back the way they came but I could still see them milling around. Then they came back. They got to same spot and still didn't like it and went back south. Almost immediately 12 more came from the north. This group had two small bucks with them. They were also at 25yds but didn't pay any attention to me and continued south following the first group. For not expecting to see anything it's been a great morning so far!

Just had three more come by going south. I really thought about shooting one of those does from the first group but the problem is two-fold. I'm by myself and I'm almost a mile from the truck. My side by side is in the shop and I'd have no way of getting it out. Now if it were a big buck I would probably find a way

As hard as you work out: gutless, quarter, pack out.

I’m out. Once again I didn’t see a deer. I did get winded about a half hour after daylight.

Also, when I started walking out a pack of four dogs ran up on me. I knew they were around but this is the first time I’ve encountered them.

I saw them before they saw me and my pistol came out immediately. They weren’t a threat though. They turned and ran off. I’m glad. I’d hate to have to shoot a neighbor’s dog, even if it is on my property.

Debating on burning a half day of vacation tomorrow to hunt the evening and I’d miss my weekly management meeting so it’s sounding better and better or just role my time over for next year? Tough decision.

Ya know I thought about that, and I might have been able to do it to. But as you get older you look back on some of the things you did when you were younger and say to yourself; why?!?!? I passed!

Have you considered planting a small food plot to keep deer on or closer to your property in late season?

That would be a no brainer for me as I can't roll over vacation. Use it or lose it.

So what I hear is that today was not a good day to test out your cold weather gear. LOL
