How's it going? Do you think you will be able to get a doe down?

Come on guys, I know lots of you shoot only bucks but slam a flattop for us. We are in this and have a real chance to win. We can do it without another buck if we all pitch in. For those that haven't killed a Buck that would be amazing. Don't quit keep pushing we got this.

A lot of season left. Haven't been out since early November. Between baby, work, and wife's work schedule on the weekends it has not been easy to get out. Hoping to get back down south the weekend of the 17th. I might be able to sneak a day or two on private or public in between. I won't be getting out as often as most of the team has been able to, though. Sorry to report that.

I’m still trying to whack a doe. Got sick over thanksgiving and had a nasty cough so I had to resort to doing what I do best. [IMG]

For sure would love to see some more does entered. I'm just scratching my head on how I'm going to kill a buck this year. Weird one for me.

I’ve shot my biggest in January after I found a honey locust tree they were absolutely hammering on. Full intentions on shooting another freezer queen that day and he walked in haha you got this man.

There are ton of honey locust trees on the in-laws farm. I had no idea what they were until searching the tree after you mentioned it in your post. Internet says the deer feed on the bark in the winter. Is this what you were seeing? I've never heard of this as a food source. Sounds great for me since there really isn't any agriculture or food plots on the farm.

They hit the long brown seed pods like candy. If you can find a concentrated area of that, you're in business when all the other food sources dry up.

To cold / windy for sitting today but I did see 4/5 bucks from the cabin this morning bumping some does around.
    1 new 10pt I've not seen before.
Will have the release strapped on this evening with my ass close to the woodstove. Lol.

Good luck Dave. I have to say I'm a bit jealous that you can sit by the stove and potentially kill a good buck or any deer for that matter. I live in suburban purgatory with privacy fences and nosy ass neighbors. Cannot wait to move back out to the woods.

They smash the pods! Slurp them up like spaghetti haha when the snow is on especially! Think it’s like a gotta eat to survive because I usually only find feeding sign when it’s super cold or when the snow has fell. Take a scouting mission on a couple days after your next snowfall. If you have one that is. You’ll find where you need to be pretty quickly for a late season hunt.
