I finally score an ice conversion kit for my Humminbird depth finder, been trying for over a year to get one. My son in law is going to be stoked.
Now that my buck tag is punched I've been fighting an urge to hit the lake one more time before winterizing the boat. High of 57 on Monday..... might just have to make it happen, then put her to bed.
Anybody here using the soft plastic ice jigs? I have a friend that works at cabelas says they fly off the shelves as soon as they come in.

I called and waited and inquired about avaiability based on the information with my order. I was assured that my order had shipped evidently I got one of the last ones. Will see if it really shows.
Knowledgeable catfishing guys....can I catch em in the freezing cold? Like bank fishing? I live in Missouri now, might as well embrace catfish.
What little I know of catfishing suggests that they only bite well deep during the cold times of year. Something about the thermocline being lower. Although, I am a long way from an expert. I could be wrong.
We used to catch the heck out of them in the winter time in heated, powerplant lakes. Not sure if you have anything like that around you or not.
I’m actually already thinking about late winter/early bass fishing. Chartreuse/Purple back or Chrome/Blue back Rat-L-Traps ran slow on semi-shallow flats and across points starting about the end of January through late March. Man that’s fun. Sometimes you have to dip the rod in the water to melt the ice off the guides but you can catch the heck out of some good bass.
I've caught them before in the dead of winter using smelt for bait. Also I know alot of guys that would fish the coldest days and they would drop down deep to find the catfish. They usually saved up bluegills from throughout the season. Tough bite but they'd catch quite a few. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
