That plot should be a deer magnet especially with the colder temperatures. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I saw him again tonight. 5:15 following a doe long distance 500 + yards. Had a button in front of me for the last 45 minutes of light. Ended up seeing 9 deer. Only 2 close enough to shoot. I WANT him bad! Sooner or later our paths are gonna cross in my favor and I hope I can seal the deal!
I was able to knock down a decent 8 pointer last week. He's no freak but I will get him scored up and on the board for us. I'm guessing 110 inches but I suck at guessing score. 16 inch 8 point with average length but not a lot of mass. I started to do the math and we have rifle season the next two weekends, muzzle loader season, out of town for a christmas party, another saturday after that shot for another christmas party, actual christmas eve and day and then new years out of town. That didn't leave many late season hunts with the bow tag left. I will hunt with my bow for a few days over rifle and during muzzleloader and as many times as I can between now and the first weekend in January to hopefully pick up a doe for the freezer and Team 8's board. Good luck to everybody out there!!!
Congrats Gemini! Good work! We're right in there! BHH, you're going to connect, just a matter of time!! Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
Took yesterday off to rest my weary bones. Watched 6 does feed in my front yard under the oak trees for 30 minutes right before dark last night. Not a single buck around to bother them. Going back to the green wheat field at 2pm this afternoon to try for big boy again. Going to adjust my location to the east end of the fence row. There are 3 cedar trees on a high spot that I can setup in and be well hidden from the ground. If he is still hanging where was Monday I might get a crack at him!
I keep looking at this picture and dreaming of holding those horns... My inspiration for this afternoon!
If you saw that for an evening sit, I would call that a pretty good evening. Before this season ends, you're going to get a shot at the big one.
Great job Gemini! I’ll be hunting sat night and At the property for the next week. Hope to do it right and score a few. At my place in the Daniel Boone it’s all about your entry point and not being detected. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Well boys. Nothing like suburban hunting. Got permission over the weekend and went in this morning for a hang and bang. 23 yd shot and he was dead within 50 yds. To stay I'm astonished by the outcome is an understatement. Saw a small 4 pt 20 minutes before i heard him coming. I was only expecting a doe when I heard the footsteps but when I saw him I almost crapped myself. He was between me and the edge of my neighbor's yard. He stood and licked a branch for a couple minutes. The wind changed a bit and I think he caught a little of my scent but it was too late at that point. He turned to go back the way he came in but I had time to draw and pick my shooting lane. Gave him a meehh and he stopped perfectly at 23 yds. I'll have him scored and posted tonight.
