She busted me tonight so I busted her lol. She went like 20 yards. Sounded like she was tearing the forest down.

Slowly but surely. I’ve got vacation starting Wednesday. Going to do my best to get a buck down.

I'm sorry I haven't been very active on here. I'm struggling this bow season with the loss of my long time hunting partner my dad. And trying to be there for my mom now that she's all alone. When I do get to the stand I have not have any shots. It's been so warm here. This next weekend it's suppose to be Highs in the 30's and low's in the 20's! I plan on hitting it hard this weekend before the opening of our Gun deer season next week 15th.
    Good luck to everyone!

Yes we did! It was a great weekend for sure. I'll be trying my best to get one down once this massive front rolls in later this week. I'm headed back down south. I'm hoping one or two will respond to rattling again!

Looking forward to this weekend! Big temperature change coming!! I have through Monday evening to get it done.
Then I switch over to the 350 Legend on Tuesday. I need some venison in the freezer.

Alrighty gents, I am back from my trip. Needless to say, it didn't go has planned. Spent 7 years waiting to draw back in and I got to hunt one morning of a 2 1/2 day hunt. I have been unpacking and packing back up because I am headed to a public place called James Collins in the morning. With this cold front coming in I wanna go chase some giants around. Signal won't be the greatest down there but I'll be on when I can.

So about my hunt... Got camp set up Wednesday and had our meetings Thursday morning. 1 P.M. we got to go out and scout our area. I've been scouting this area out since we drew in but never got to lay eyes on it until Thursday afternoon. It was thick and brushy and zero acorns. The trees were so small, about 8"-10" diameter was the biggest I could find. It offered great travel routes and natural funnels. Looked excellent for bucks! During our scouting mission, I found one pile of deer droppings.... one! No rubs, no beds, no acorns. Needless to say I was already feeling down about it. Friday morning, I opted to sit on the road and glass the bunker road, I could see 400-600 yards. I spotted 3 bucks crossing the road and one was giant. I proceeded to set up where I seen him cross, he crossed along a creek/ditch. I got my stand down there and found a big cedar tree but before I could get my stand hung the storms rolled through. Friday evening we didn't hunt, to much rain and lightning for us to feel comfortable. Saturday morning I go to hang my stand, 45 minutes later, I finally give up... My stand is homemade, since I am so short, I custom built it for me. Well, it's not built for small trees I guess. Won't go into any more on that lol. So Saturday morning I sat in my wheelchair in a bar ditch close to where that big buck crossed. My wheelchair is more noisy then a puppy with a squeaker toy. Saturday evening, I had to either hunt in my chair or Just glass... I decided to glass and see if I couldn't get someone on a buck. I seen a couple big ones that evening but no shots. Sunday morning, the wind was blowing 30+ and I forgot my blind chair in the trailer... needless to say, I just glassed the last morning of the hunt. I ended up seeing 3 doe, and 3 buck with one of them being giant... If my stand would of worked in one of the small trees, I could have possibly killed a once in a lifetime buck.

I got back home and went to work on my stand... hopefully it's fixed now and I'll put it to use this coming weekend.

That's tough to hear Greg. I was hoping you'd get a big one or at least a doe/pig so you could go back next year. I'm on year 11 of not drawing. It's getting old.

Good luck at JC! Today is my last day of work. I'm heading to Push this evening for the rest of the week. Hopefully this front gets them rolling.

Good luck! Lay a few down this weekend! Our rifle season starts next weekend. I usually just bow hunt through it though.

Dang Greg, that's a rough go. I've done something similar. It's was the longest ride home in my life. Still think about it and regret not shooting on a few chances I had. But nothing can do now but move forward and focus on the next hunt. Good luck buddy!

All you can do is get out when you can. Sometimes when her head is weighted so heavy on one thing, it's hard to enjoy anything else. Time will heal the wound and hopefully you will find the peace again. Good luck when you get back out.
