Came home at noon to feed and let my dog out. Got back out to the stop sign a half mile from my house and caught this guy crossing the highway and heading towards my house.
My wife is working in California this week, so getting the kids to and from school been cutting into my hunting time…. Snuck out after I dropped them off this morning and I am going to hunt till about 2 pm..:. Despite more midday and all day sits that I can remember over the years I have yet to kill a mature buck during the middle of the day. This stand I call the kennel stand because it’s only 175 yards behind my hound kennels. It’s usually a good stand early October then into Nov….
71 degrees out. On doe patrol.Set up a buddy stand yesterday to hunt with my son. Trying to teach him early. We didn’t see anything. Shouldn’t be a problem tonight but they need to get up and move before dark.
Sorry guys, been MIA for most of the week. Promotion at work has kicked my ass a bit. I'm mentally exhausted. On vacation now, I say vacation and not rutcation as it will be 80 degrees tomorrow and winds up to 50mph Saturday so Sunday will likely start my rutcation. That magical time is here!
This is the stand I planned on hunting after I dropped the kids off from School… talk about a punch in the head
I took my time and got in super quite, wind is still almost perfect. Going to sit still till noon and reassess
Took the morning off . Four plus days of a south wind in NY has done me in. Giving the property a rest this morning and going blow leaves …again.
I suck at hunting…that was the slowest four days I have ever had. I may get few hours in tomorrow morning, but then I am going into work for the next couple days going to start back up Thursday afternoon an hunt till Sunday.
I've been spending a lot of time in the saddle, and not much to show for it. I'm seeing deer occasionally - but either dinks or does out of range. -fsh
