Great looking area. All those leaves are going to get real crunchy! Nothing better than hearing dear slowly walking towards you in crunchy leaves. Best time of the year is upon us.

I've been on Base the last 6 days and not much to report. I had a pair of does @16yds (I need an EAB doe), but they came up on my blocked 3 o'clock side and I never got the opportunity. I watched a modest ~3-1/2 make a couple of scrapes @20 yds a few days ago.

Also, of course this contest is just for fun but if we want to have a chance to win we all need to shoot a doe. That is the most underrated, important part of this contest

Yeah, does really add to the total. Thar has been my issue the past 5 or 6 seasons. I started waiting until late Oct or even Nov to start hunting. By that point I was passing does as decoys and small bucks waiting one out. By the time I finally shot a buck I started losing the motivation to get back out. I'd leave my 4 wheeler there forcing myself to at least one more hunt.

Not going to have that luxury any longer, if I don't see a shooter following first doe gets thwacked.

I am hunting adjacent to a bedding area. About 15 minutes after I climbed up a shooter buck stood up from a bed 40 yards in front of me. He repositioned and is now bedded 50 yards to my NE. No idea what he will do. Just waiting him out [IMG]

8 or 9 does and fawns passed by at 20 yards, the Bobber walked right by them all then walked within 10 yards of the buck. I haven’t sat down yet, still waiting this guy out.

Crazy! Can you see the buck and did the buck react at all to the bobcat?

The buck stayed put. Didn’t phase him at all.

The buck got up and walked towards me , and gave me 35 yard shot, it was thick and the window was small. I am not 100% sure of the shot, so I stayed in the stand till about 6pm and backed out. I know I got a pass through but I didn’t see my arrow with my binoculars, so I didn’t poke around in the thicket. I am going to give it awhile.

Wow, that's awesome and conflicting at the same time.

How did you feel about his reaction to the shot? High mule kick or too thick to tell?

Rooting for you, contest be damned, I hope you recover him.
