Fall baseball is finally over! Hallelujah! Unfortunately a bunch of other obligations are popping up so my time in the woods is still going to be hit or miss. Took my son out Sat and Sun evenings - saw deer both sits but nothing in bow range we wanted to shoot. I did hunt for myself on Sunday morning and saw a couple deer, but they all came in straight down wind and we all know how that ends.

Not sure what my schedule looks like for this week - we'll see how work goes and I may sneak out for an afternoon or two.

I haven't hunted but I did let my son's best friend sit in one of my honey holes behind the house. It was his first solo sit. He texted me at one point like something was wrong. I asked him and he said there were so many deer running around him he wasn't sure what to do. Few min later he tells me he couldn't resist and shot the boss doe that was beating up on all the other deer. I took the tractor down and helped him and his dad with the recovery. Love seeing young kids have success. He put a great shot on her! Makes my heart warm!

We are done with soccer as of this weekend and have just a couple football games left along with a band competition. With that, a lot more hunting in the next couple weeks just in time for things to start really heating up.

That's awesome! Kudos to you for giving up one of your spots to help him get a deer. Not enough people doing that anymore.

And is that a Cobra Sidewinder sight he's shooting?? Sure looks like it.

I don't know how many of those things they sold back in the day, but it had to be an absolute pile of them. Everyone I knew shot that sight at one point, followed by the Copper John Dead Nuts.

I still haven’t been back since opening day. I’ve been trying to hold out. My oak ridge hunt is right around the corner.

Didn't see anything tonight, but my dad connected on a doe tonight! He was sitting a hundred yards from me, we tracked it together.... there's just something about tracking and recovering a deer with your dad!

Made it out a couple nights ago. Been getting a nice 10 on cam more and more lately with a pic at first light and last light about a week apart. Was hoping the cold front would have him in during the evening sit. Seen some deer but not him. d4c7b777-95d1-4c4c-8a02-969254c1dbbd.jpg

Went out last night for just my fourth sit of the season and ended up seeing 3 bucks and a doe. Nothing big enough that I wanted to shoot, but I did watch a couple of them really go at it and fight for probably 20 minutes straight. They made all sorts of racket. So if you're ever wondering if you're over-calling, I would say the answer is NO.

Taking my son out tonight after he gets home from school, and probably a couple quick morning hunts this weekend. It's going to be hot and windy so I'm taking the afternoons off. Starting next week it's game on for me. I will be hunting just about every day for the next 2-3 weeks.

I'm still planning on getting out for my first sit Saturday afternoon. Temps have been in the 40s and 50s last couple days but they are calling for low to mid 70s... Oh well, need to get that first sit out of the way to get the rust off, lol.

It's always good to get that first sit out of the way before the big show so you can figure out all of the stuff you lost the year prior :)

For sure! When I was 12 I went to my Aunt and Uncles house to spend the night and go goose hunting with my uncle in the AM. Walking up to his house he asks "where's your gun?". Duh!!! Luckily he had a gun I could use, lol. So now I always tell my self Wallet (license etc) Gun/bow, Ammo. Everything else is extra.

I once hiked 1/4mile into some hellish hilly public land with a climber on my back when I realized I forgot my bow.

My cameras in PA are finally starting to get some regular action again! Hoping to get out some days early next week. My dads been out a bunch and been seeing more and more activity. No great bucks yet, but all things looking better.
