I’d double check the health of that tree if I were you… at least around here when out trees start to get a bunch of moss and lichens on them it often means that the innards are starting to get rotted out.

Spike just did what I need the big one to do. 7 yards broadside.

It was good with green leaves everywhere. Not sure there’s many oak trees around here without moss lol

Man. It has cooled off and feels excellent here. Hunting at the house this evening then public in the morning. Decent buck or doe is in trouble.

Seen this big buck this evening right at last light. He’s a big dude! No shot. Trying to decide if I need to go to public in the morning or hunt him.

I'd say don't leave a buck that you would shoot. But only if the conditions were right. You think you could get on him in the morning or would you need to wait til the evening?

Sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my mom in August. Its tough loosing a parent who was so involved in your life. My parents divorced when I was about 3. Never saw my dad again after that. I am the person I am today because of my mom and people would say she did a pretty good job. Take care.

Thank you everyone for your comments and prayers. I hope to go to the stand this weekend. It's my happy place. I love the quiet and time to reflect on on past seasons with my dad.
Thankfully my Son and Son in-law like to hunt. So I don't have to hunt alone all the time.
Good luck everyone! Again thanks for the prayers!

I’m regretting my decision to not wear another layer of clothing…. Temps are dropping fast!

Went ahead and went to public this morning. Hunted till 1130. Seen a bunch of doe and a few little bucks. Decided not to shoot a doe today. Was way to far in there and didn’t want to get one out.

Well, I possibly spooked the big one… not sure! Last 10 minutes of shooting light and all of a sudden a deer snorts… it was a very short snort and just a single deer took off. It didn’t haul but out of there but it did run about 40-60 yards then walked off. It was about that distance from me… weird part is, my wind/thermals was going almost the opposite direction of where it was. I’m still baffled on what spooked it.

Hopefully he didn’t booger to bad if it was him. What area did you draw at Mac? They should be on fire while you’re there.

I’m back after him… I’m calling him “The dodge buck” sucker keeps dodging me. He showed up a 8:11 pm. I’ve pulled out the grunt call this evening, this place should be perfect for some blind calling later on.
