Well for some unknown reason, my feeder Trail Cam started to transmit pics this week. It showing some promising activity..
Wish I could hunt tomorrow, first hard frost of the year Friday morning. VT doesnt open till Saturday. My target Buck has shown up on camera twice in the last week, which means hes probably been around quite a bit more(cameras cover so little ground). He likes the old logging roads about 3/4 the way up the hill behind the house. Good 2.5-3.5yr old mountain Buck. I'll be up in a tree very early Saturday morning with a heater vest. Hopefully sitting still an hour before shooting time. Good luck everyone hunting Today.
Im all packed up, camper is hooked up and Im headed N to Illinois this morn, will set up a few blinds , checks some cams tomorrow and make a plan for Sat morn. Got this guy on cell cam last night but I think he is just 3 n a half.
Yes it is CML, hopefully it'll be a big dead pig by the end of the season! Last year I had a small sounder, started showing up in the middle of the season on cam.
I had a pretty good last 4 days of hunting. Saw some nice bucks, just not what I was hoping for this early. The next couple days I am going to be focusing on killing a doe as the weather doesn't look great. But another cold front is headed our way Thursday night through Sunday, so I should get some quality time in the stand this weekend.
I still haven’t gotten out, but I have committed to taking out a newbie for his first hunt Friday on public land. I’ll hopefully get a hunt in on the private land this weekend too. Trucks loaded up and ready to head north, Will be in camp in S Illinois for 8 days . Or 1 if I get lucky on the first morn!!!! Temps are gonna be way too high, but the bucks should be on the move regardless of how hot it is . Ill try to post from the tree if I get a signal
I've been out that last two nights after work, going again tonight. I did see a smaller buck across the river last night, and a group of does across the river the night before. So tonight, I will be going across the river and sitting on the ground.
