Decided the last minute to hunt the lease tonight. Saw 3 does, and had one blow at me from behind the stand. Also saw a couple cyote. Nothing close but I consider it a good sit...

Got the cape and head back today from the processor. 153 5/8” gross on him. My biggest archery buck to date. I’ll write up the hunt about him tomorrow hopefully and get him entered! Hopefully will get a doe down this weekend as well! Then I’m on the hunt for an Illinois Giant!

I wasn't to far off calling it a 160". That is still a hell of a buck. Congratulations again!

I'll be headed back to Ohio Friday afternoon but won't be able to get on stand until Saturday morning. There calling for 41 degrees in the morning with a high of 56. Supposed to be 38 degrees Sunday and Monday morning. These temperatures should really have the deer on their feet.

    Got my buck entered.

This deer last year we called Tight 9 obviously because of his narrow rack. His beams actually crossed slightly last year. This year he didn't show back up until 2 weeks ago and then stuck around. He blew up from last year with lots of tine length and the extra points. He was all over our cameras last week daytime and night. Opening morning I sat a stand that is a low impact easy entrance stand for our timber. He was the first deer to appear shortly after shooting light. Took him some time to get to me but he offered a 20 yard shot slightly quartering away. Arrow went in at a steep angle high behind shoulder and hit opposite shoulder and stayed in. He ran 100 yards and crashed.

I have a similar story on the buck we called high and tight. He was a 9 point 2 years ago and we passed him last year he blew into a 12 point and put on a lot of inches. He ended up scoring 161”. IMG_1553.JPG IMG_1552.JPG IMG_2311.JPG IMG_2304.JPG IMG_2323.JPG

I'm off tomorrow and I'm crossing my fingers. I'll be hitting a favorite morning spot for me and then hunting my property in the evening for some payback. The same buck that busted my last week from the ground as been coming in at last light. Hopefully the cold weather bumps his watch up 10 minutes. My brother is coming back home for the weekend and we have him and his two small kids set up in a blind. I have a feeling something will be in the walk in cooler by Saturday night.

I'm usually super aggressive but I decided to wait to hunt even though I was literally at the trail head with my bow in my hand before I changed by mind. Full go this weekend.

Nothing for me today. Biggest buck I saw was a 1-1/2 year old 8 point.

I ended up seeing 3 small 8 points, 2 spikes and a fawn last evening. Getting ready to head out for the last sit on this trip to Ohio.

Well boys and girls I did what I could for the team! I’m still hoping for a personal upgrade on the buck but it’s been a good year for me so far! Let’s put some down and move up the board! [IMG]

Hey guys. Just checking in from Maryland 's eastern shore. Hunting sika deer is the best. They are tiny but good gracious they are delicious. In case you guys are interested, Meat Eater did a two part episode on them. Majority of the filming was done on my lease. Any how.... I'm on the board 20221010_125649.jpeg 20221010_125631.jpeg 81255.jpeg
