Well finishing up a hostage negotiator course and of course I am way south in the path of the hurricane. Needless to say I will be finishing the course and leaving tomorrow to head back up north. Rain for the next 4 days back home so probably won't even hunt with the amount of rainfall we are expecting.
I felt like a hostage the last 3 days of staff meetings...and looks like this weekend will be heavy rain and 50mph+/- winds, so I'm not sure I'll be out either.
Slugger will use his newfound hostage negotiator skills. Gets on a megaphone in the middle of the woods.."Its ok I understand your pain, you can trust me, deer please begin walking this way for an orderly exit, I mean you no harm"
haha. "I hung my bow on the bow hanger, I just walk to talk....meet me halfway, come to 20 yards and we can speak."
"White acorns? No problem, I can help you with that. I just need you to show just a bit of good will..."
Haha. Become their friend. Never lie to them though. I did really want to bring them in and warm them up! Just not what they thought Sent from my SM-G990U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I'm heading back out tomorrow morning temps should be around 38 tomorrow morning... good luck guys...
Made my trip back home. Only thing that stinks is now I am looking at rain for the next several days. 8-10 inches of rain so probably not much hunting in the near future.
Wrll tonight I was out of work sick and I figured I could be sick at home or sick in the woods, I opted for the woods. I brought my longbow with and went out to a piece of public that I hunted a couple times last year. Being that I was using the longbow my standards went way down and the only thing I wasn't going to shoot was a spike. I had a small 8 come in at 530 and he was walking right below me and instead of letting walk last I launched and arrow and smacked the shoulder....did not get much for penetration, I vividly remember thinking to myself "there's a whole lot of arrow stick out of that deer." I gave it an hour and got down and there was absolutely blood...I followed up until I lost sight of him then waited until dark to see if I could see my lighted nock and did a bit of grid searching but nothing was to be found...some of the weeds snd what not inwas trecking through ranged between my chest height and being over my head which made the grid searching difficult. I'm guessing the deer will be fine. Between my achilles and everything else going on in life I was fixing to be really happy with the deer...now I'm just praying it was a mere flesh wound for the deer. I will probably go out tomorrow to see if I see some buzzards flying around and if I do I'll make my way towards them.
I could not find one drop of blood unfortunately....I'm about to go drive back down quick before our homecoming parade and game
