Eats better than a 150+ and about the same amount of meat. Not a damn thing wrong with that.

A good Captain checks on his crew and makes sure we are headed in the right direction. For all you know we drank all the rum and ate all the food!

Have you figured out your attack plan on your spot?

Pretty much. Go with the "gut" and hope it's right.

Only thing I can do opening morning is hit the area I am familiar with and hope for the best. 10am or so I'll hit the other side of the "creek" and scout for an evening hunt(s).

Going to try to get out this weekend for a reduction hunt. Never hunted the early reduction season but we have cool weather moving in and I just want to be in a tree for some stress relief!

36° this morning in Wisconsin. Wish I could be in the woods instead of in the office at work.

Planning on making my first sit Saturday afternoon.
Looks like a little rain in the 3 & 4 o’clock range, but too bad.
Need to get out and work the kinks out a bit.
I’m anxious to hunt my own land for the first time.

Weekend 3 and last weekend for archery. 3 week pause and then I get to compete with the riffle guys for 4 weeks. As I’m sitting under my tree, I can hear chainsaws not too far off an up wind. Seem to be coming from near one of my cam that hasn’t sent anything for a week.
UPDATE: found out why my camera hasn’t been posting. It’s gone! But the app says it’s still online it just hasn’t synced since the 17th. And there’s a nice new man made ground blind. If the app has it online, could they have just buried it or put it face down somewhere?

Last day of Archery season has come to an end for me. 3 week pause till regular season starts. Then 4 more weeks to get at it. One camera stolen and a lot learned.
I pray for all of you a safe and bountiful season. May the wind be in your favor, the tracks fresh, and your arrows fly straight.

Well that sucks Agi. So you can’t archery hunt until that 4th week?

Took my little buddy out to set up a blind so he can have his first hunt. Looking forward to that. Been too busy around the house to get out for early reduction hunting. Next weekend I will make it a few sits.

Yeah with the AO tag there’s a 4 week archery season in my local zone. Then general season starts on the 22nd. Other zones start earlier or run longer and with AO I can hunt most zones in CA during general or archery.
I was late and did t understand the different tag types. We have an A22 tag that extends the season to dec 31 for either sex but is zone specific.
Good luck to you and your little. I hope you both enjoy your time together at the very least.

Sorry guys haven't made it out yet. This last weekend I had my nieces 3rd birthday party and Sunday I spent a fair amount of time chatting with my son who lives in Fort Myers Florida to make sure he is prepared for the hurricane. Will get out soon and have a long season left.

Hey yall, just got back from Colorado on Sunday. Came very close, multiple times, but was not able to seal the deal on an elk.

All focus completely shifted to whitetail now. Probably going to go to Oklahoma the 2nd weekend of October. Hopefully catch some deer on that early feeding pattern

I set out 6 cameras yesterday, hoping to get a read on activity. And checked a few cameras I had out - nothing compelling...

Well today chamged my plans drastically. Wasn't taking a rutcation this year as I lost the private land I hunted and a Florida vcation opened up. Had planned to spend Dec 24th - Jan 6th on Fort Meyers Beach, but as you can see by the blue dot, it's no longer there. The beach house we were going to stay in took a direct hit amd been in the eye wall for over an hour now.

Will now be rut hutting public Nov 4th - 13th.
