It was pretty cool! It was only about 10-15 yards away almost eye level (we were in a tree stand). He was definitely checking us out, lol

    Great looking deer!!!

I've had a pretty rough summer for buck pics on cameras but have a few shooters out there somewhere. Hopefully one of them shows up in October.

On a side note - the deer I shot in Wyoming and didn't kill got shot and killed by another hunter this morning. Paul Morrison was guiding him and texted me, "Thanks for slowing him down".

Waiting on better pics from him once they have service and get back to the lodge.

10 more days till season. Temperatures have been dropping every morning and the cell camera has been on fire in the morning.

The new V3 27 has been shooting phenomenal.

Here's the one I shot in Wyoming and didn't kill. After the first shot, I had him in bow range six more times over three days but never got another clean look at him. My best chance was at 30 yards through a little bit of brush. I tried to force one in before he bolted, and it deflected right under his belly.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda! Heck of a deer - I'm happy for the fella who finally sealed the deal. I shot him on 9/3, and he was finally killed on 9/14.

Justin, that sucks that you couldn't get him down but that's hunting and it wasn't fun a lack of trying. I have a feeling that you will get a great chance on a whitetail around here! You are due.

Checked on the food plots and put some cameras out today. Everything is looking good for October 1st opening day! The white acorns on the trees by the stands are going to be during the season. 20220915_082241.jpeg

Wow! Nice deer for sure. Do you know where you hit him?

High neck - above the spine and in front of the shoulder. Nothing but meat.

Any chance you will be able to go back and try and fill that tag this year?

Doubtful. It's 1,000 miles from home, and I've burned up most of my PTO already. Need to save a couple of days to chase whitetails here at home.

Is that the bloody hole we see in the pic? It sucks but at least you know the final outcome and don't have to worry about infection setting in, etc.

The really bloody hole in the pic was the kill shot. Mine is in front of that - you can see it if you look close. It was pretty big on the other side, they did a good job of hiding it in the photos. Still a chance he may have died from infection, but almost 2 weeks later he was looking good, and the wound wasn't infected yet. Hard to say what the future would have held for him. He's hamburger now!

Well season started here in Kentucky on 9/1… haven’t been able to get out due to weather/wind issues and a family camping trip but hope to get after it this coming weekend

Spot on. I have never seen soo many acorns like this year. The trees are absolutely loaded and i suspect these deer will be on them quite a bit. I have beans, corn, brassicas, clover and rye but right now I’m seeing them in the woods on acorns.

Opening day is next Saturday and I couldn’t be happier. The deer will be on there feet. I am off work Sat-Thursday.

I have two buck tags and plan on saving one for my Oak Ridge Draw Hunt in November. The other I hope to use on the very active eight pointer on the farm. I also have 5 doe tags to use.

I was just curious because it almost looks like there is another would right behind the front leg. Could just be the grass in the way. Either way like you said, he’s hamburger
