I almost forgot here is my little hunting buddy. My granddaughter wanted to go elk hunting with me last Friday. So my son brought her up and we went out hunting.
Was resetting my targets up last night and found a yellow jacket nest. Old muskrat holes make perfect places for them and the combination of apples on the ground. We gave them hell last night. Should be safe shooting now.
Those little buggers can really tear a person up. Did you get stung when you found it or did you get lucky?
Well got all packed up for Kentucky yesterday, but the forecast for next week's hunt doesn't look very promising with rain forecasted for 5 out of 6 days so we may end up postponing until the rut. LC for you guys down there when does it seem the rut kicks in the best or I should say the seeking phase?
Ive only hunted Kentucky close to the rut a handful of times. I usually spend that time here at home. I don’t know how far south you will be but where I hunt in Kentucky is a little farther south than where I am here, and I’ve seen really good chasing activity from about the last week of October. I’ve seen chasing and breeding as late as Thanksgiving. If I had to pick a single week I’d normally shoot for sometime during the first two weeks of November. The new moon from from the 22nd to the 25th would have my attention this year though.
OR.... @Kyle Rayburn actually meant 'rain' similar to the tears of failure which may stream down his face when his team loses?
That's the truth. Been scouting 3 different properties and running a bunch of cameras. Hopefully some hit list bucks start to show their face.
Our lease is about 40 minutes south of Monticello right on the Tennessee border. In away not a bad thing that I have to reschedule as it will certainly be easier to scout with leaves being off the trees hopefully.
