I’m about to weed whip a 200 yard path through chest high swamp grass to my rut stand.

Just know that whatever kind of path you mow, the deer will use it and turn it into a highway. We have done it with multiple stands and each trail is loaded with deer tracks.

I do this also, recently cleaned out a path through 6ft tall green briar connecting the upper and lower field and hung a cam on it, created a funnel to my lower prop that’s getting pounded.

    Public area
The repel 40% deet worked well btw. We went on a whim so i didnt have time to permethrin up. I did have one small tick this morning even after a good shower when i went home. Had swarms of mosquitos and horse flies following me the whole time but i kept applying the deet as fast as i was sweating it off. Saw a giant cottonmouth. Didnt bump any deer that i know of but saw some sign. It was so thick though im sure they were in there.

Drove around the area last night glassing the fields. We saw 12 bucks with 4 of them being wall hangers. So many deer.

    0 deer tonight so far.

Shot the bow for 30 minutes. Getting the target panic and trigger punch under control.

10 days and I’ll be chasing velvet bucks.

Went into another new spot today. Found a couple good spots. That 650 acres needs about 5 days of scouting at some point. Was a pretty tough scout given the terrain was a beast. Laid down 4 miles...I feel my age in this heat. Screenshot_20220823-140929_onX Hunt.jpg 20220823_124538.jpg

Got the mineral block, and cameras out. Checked treestand straps. Bows re-tuned up. Just practice and checking cards and waiting now! FB_IMG_1660918688032.jpg

I used to hunt a public spot in central MO that looked almost identical to that, but I was there for turkeys. I always found TONS of deer sign and always wanted to set up on it at some point. Still waiting to make that happen.

The PERFECT kill plot for whitetails is in the ground and growing. Wheat, brassicas, chicory and of course CLOVER. We can’t wait for a cool October evening in the Radix blind. It’ll be here before we know it!

Nice birthday surprise yesterday. Have not gotten that 2nd one on camera but he looks mature. Can’t quite tell what the 3rd one is.

The third one is a 200" perfectly symmetrical 12 point, but, he is 2 and half, so with that potential he should probably be passed. He will be treefiddy in two years if the neighbors don't kill him.

Yessir! That dude in the middle is the kind of stuff to drive ya crazy chasing all season. Good luck on him, Jake.

Got close to finding Curlys confederate gold. One of these days!

Look at this ancient tree. So awesome.

Damn bears. Got this today with 2 others and decided to check the status of my other cams on the app. Noticed one hadn’t checked in in 6 days. Get out there and see they tore it off the tree, broke both brackets, and somehow got the battery pack out. Might just have to get a tag this fall since we can get them over the counter in our area.
