Any of you ever just not get excited about an upcoming season? I've been so busy that I haven't really thought about it, but today it hit me. Now I'm officially excited about it. Just curious.
I completely understand, I go through cycles and just started to really make the push Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
I’m not feeling it at all this year. I’ve shot my bow a few times but even did that half-heartedly. It’s just a bit over two weeks until season opens and nothing is ready.
I feel like I'm going through a change and a learning curve. I'm still very excited, just don't feel as excited. Like you, I attribute it to being busy. 2 year old and 2 month old at home. Wife is off until December so that makes things nice for hunting season, but the my priorities at home are obviously taking a front seat and I have this feeling with hunting that why waste my time going out there if I am not fully prepared or as prepared as I "should" be. It may be a season where Iowa is my only focus as far as hunting goes. I don't feel like wasting time away from the family to do a half assed sit in the tree. If it wasn't for my Dad hunting in PA, I think I would just spend time with the girls and hit my one or 2 trips a year. Part of me believes that once season hits and I get a moment to sneak away I'll be in a tree when I can, no matter how prepared I am.
Having little ones around will keep a man busy! I remember those days and it definitely makes it tough to get away or even want to get away. And that whole Iowa thing sounds rough. Jk. It's funny to me how every season seems to hit me different.
Jeeze my guy, if this is because you know you are going to end up wearing pink panties then we can call off the bet!
Be my luck I would be paired with a bunch of golfers. Lol ! They better know how to swing the hell out of that damn club.
My seasons now days will be not even on my radar to balls to the walls within a day. A cool day can light the fire and once lit...
I'm always focused on riding motorcycles and bass fishing until the first "fall feeling" day in August. that day was like last week, now its all about deer. I have absolutely nothing ready. Made some jerky for the land owner(co-workers also demolishing it), shortened draw length for sleeve clearance and re-tune in progress. I'll throw a camera up here in the next week or so, but will mostly be shooting the bow to prepare.
That day is today! A high of 98 yesterday, a high of 75 today and nothing but upper 80s or lower in the 10 day forecast. Let's GOOOOOO!
65 here this morning. Walked out to where all the acorns were on the ground and jumped a doe and fawn.....oooooooh, boy!
Haven't really been looking forward to it this year honestly. Been a crazy year. Bought a house, wife had her kidney removed because of cancer, had septic issues at the new house and on and on and on, lol. It's been cool in the mornings here (upper 50's low 60's) the last couple of days which is starting to get me excited. Shot my bow last weekend for the first time this year. Switched to a single pin sight so working on getting that dialed in. Season starts oct 1 but may not get out to late oct early nov. Have a long list of stuff at the new house to get done.
Sorry about your wife. Hopefully all will work out and get a full recovery. Did you buy that property you were talking about last year, the one with a marsh on it? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Thanks, She is getting healed up and pretty much back to normal (had it removed in April). Her first 3 month scan showed no cancer so they got it all out with the kidney. Now just have to go back each year for follow up scans. As for the house. Land was nice, House was not going to work out for the family. Ended up with a nicer, larger house with about 1.5 acres. Nothing I can hunt on, but it's in the country and quite so it works. I'm still fortunate enough to hunt on our friends property so can't complain.
Off and running or off and smack talking ! I’m still trying to figure it out. I just want to paint it red and get some bone on the ground.
