I have looked into the OnX navigation settings and cant find anything that improves navigation. Two of the major issues are the system has too much clutter and doesn't consistently track. You even tap the screen with .2 lbs of pressure and all kinds of things pop up on the screen. It gets annoying having to deal with that over a mile or so of travel. Also, it doesn't always accurately show which way you are walking. It skews that by maybe 10%, and that can make a big difference over a decent distance. I never had those problems with other mapping gps systems on my phone. And forget driving with OnX, it won't track correctly.

Any suggestions? I don't have time to be out on the water in the dark and not be able to navigate correctly if I continue using OnX. That being said, OnX has been a life saver for me as I moved and I am scouting brand new grounds that ebb and flow through private property.

So as stupid as this sounds, open Google maps...then switch to onX (leaving Google running in the background)...try this around the neighborhood first to see if it helps.

I noticed a quirk with some apps that used location, this seemed to help on my Androids...

I’ll have to give that a try also. In some of the places I hunt the signal is weak. I’ve noticed that OnX location accuracy is crap when the signal is weak.

I always carry my Garmin GPS just in case.

See if it works for Brett first...

For the weak signal, download your maps for offline...I put my phone in airplane mode most of the time I'm in marginal coverage. You can also try to see if the GPS calibration helps.

It tracked pretty good on foot, but in the car it didnt do too hot. The map doesn't rotate when driving.

    Yeah, in the car, sucks.

If I can drive, I use google maps...may drop a pin on onx/basemap + Google (saved area)...like for some forest service road that plan to park.

    Glad it helped some...
