Well guys, I really did it this time. I retired for the second time. I did this two years ago but with the condition that I was willing to work only one day a week. Well, with that little covid situation, I'm a respiratory therapist, one day a week turned into I'm back full-time for a while. But this time it's for good because I've totally separated employment with the hospital. You know, when you're young you dream of retirement and think of all the free time you'll have to do what you want. But now that I'm actually here, it doesn't feel all that nice. Being at that hospital was more than my job, it was part of who I am. The people I served with in life and death situations everyday were my family-not my "work family" but my family! I know life goes on and nothing is permanent but I think this transition will be very difficult for me. Thanks for listening guys!! Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Here’s wishing you a most happy retirement! Hope your morning coffee tastes better than ever while you think about those whitetail!
Congrats on retiring again...but you don't get the second 'gold watch'. A little tree stand therapy is around the corner...
Congrats on reretiring! Spend some time in the woods, fishing and with the grandkids, that will keep you busy.
Congrats. Never leave yourself without a daily schedual/ routine is the key. I complain and the family is all over me about the garden. The size the work then the work canning and prepping food. Not to mention the plot and wood work I do.I have to I've have had jobs since I was 9 actually. Usually 2 to 3 at at a time most of my life. The routines and the work are what keeps retired people healthy. The mental planning and the physical movement. Don't forget to plan lunch breaks or quick coffee breaks with your friends. Even 15-30 min. can be rewarding. Your going to have some great adventures in retirement I'm sure, enjoy
It will be difficult because you care about people Jim. I told myself when I left police work 3 weeks ago that I would just find another job and life would move on..its been harder than I thought. People struggling need help. You have served people a long time, now it's time you worried about yourself buddy. Enjoy!
I've seen it MANY TIMES. life for people dies when they retire. Even if $$ is no object. Few people have a true passion what they did. PastureJim seems to enjoy his passion. Keep it alive (even though) a scaled down version.
Congratulations on retiring take 2, you will find over sometime that doing some "work " will be rewarding, and just as fulfilling, be it volunteering, mentoring or working as an advisor. The world needs good people and good people need the world!
Good luck Jim, I know the feeling. 5 1/2 yrs ago I retired from the Pa State Police. I found the local sportsmen club and jumped in with both feet. My love for the outdoors and helping the public / serving the public. Keeps me going. It's just a thought!!! Enjoy!!!
I was trying to think of a response that said exactly this^^^….Hope you find what you are looking for as well VS
