LOL Okay, I figured I'd get y'alls attention with a post title like that! Now that I'm gonna be a E-biker to get to my super deep spots, I'm wanting to get a pair of rubber boots for my shorter walk, and for going into the deep swamp. I've never had a pair before, so I don't know what to expect. I wear a size 8 1/2 sneaker so I was thinking a size 9 1/2 or 10 rubber boot to account for thicker wool socks. I just bought a new pair of boots last year, but things have changed. I'm not wanting to spend more than $300. Thoughts and/or suggestions?
Dan Infalt recommended these on the hunting beast the other day. He said the way they make them makes them a lot more durable and long lasting. And as far E biking....as soon as I can I'm going to get one. Thanks Brett, I'll check those out! The E-bike is awesome, I went on a 25-mile ride the other day on a rail trail. It is definitely going to open up many more opportunities for me this fall.
I don't have the gum leaf boots, but have been recommended by many people over the years. Everyone that gets them loves them. The secret is they use pure rubber, not a blend that is in just about every boot made today. It basically will last forever. Well worth the price. Gum Leaf supposedly is a heck of a rubber boot. I personally used to wear Lacrosse Alpha Burly's and they were super comfortable for short walks and while sitting in a stand. Almost like a giant slipper. I will say that if you have to walk too far, I'd wear thin socks and change out socks once you get to your treestand. Rubber does not breath at all and you're feet will be soaked. Fit is hard to say. I'd recommend trying them on in a store. I only say that because rubber seems to fit looser than a standard hunting boot. I am a 12.5 normal shoe and bought 13's in the Lacrosse and had plenty of space for thick wool socks.
I have the 1600g Lacrosse and those things are WARM. Don't wear them outside of very cold sits, but have been nothing but impressed with Lacrosse.
LaCrosse Alpha Burly, 1200 I believe. Side zipper makes for easy on/off. Im a 9.5 in a leather boot, ended up with a 9 with plenty of room for heavy socks. By far the best boot for snow and winter stand hunting, unless you buy some Mickey Mouse boots.
I use muck non insulated early season to 40* then lacrosse alpha burly 1000 gram 40* and lower. If it’s single or - I use my danners. If long walks I recommend light socks then change to new ones or heavier at or close to setup location, rubbers don’t breath.
