Been a fantasy for me, I'll likely never own the land I'd like to have so I'd accept a secondary alternative. Find me a land owner that will allow me to live remotely on their land never to be seen again. Cash out my retirement and build a makeshift shanty that will withhold the elements and keep me cool or warm. Buy a chitload of lamp oil and wicks, canning supplies and a small wood burning stove, hopefully have enough left over to give the landowner for several years property taxes. Have access to legally harvest food by hunting, trapping, and/or fishing. Have a lifetime hunting/fishing license for IL already, only need a habitat stamp every year as I have never trapped to need a fur stamp or whatever you need.

It's likely never to happen but I would love to give it a try, even if only for a year or two to see if I could do it.

Man and woman did it for years before the modern world, but only a few have reverted back to such. Some by choice others without, so it can still be done.

One can dream, even if it's not about being a millionaire living the highlife.

Some weird stuff happened this morning. Went with my brother early to see my Mom we just felt we should. My little sister was flying in and was coming direct from the airport. I saw my mom and she was different I said my good byes and told her Melissa is on the way she is coming in a hurry. I go back to the house and pack up for the airport my Dad started emptying the dishwasher, I told him he needed to get to see mom and be with Melissa. My little sister got there my dad a few minutes after her and 30 minutes later my mom's suffering was over.

I get home tonight to find a hell of a mess in front of the garage. For the love of GOD, take the damned snow plows of your pickups and quit trying to help me out. It didn't even snow. My place wasn't blocked with snow. But Thanks to you, I spent an hour shoveling out a hard packed mess you left me.

I was done with plowing last Thursday and took the plow off my truck and stored it. If it snows anymore, Mother Nature can deal with it. Ground is getting too soft to plow.

    BTW, nice friends you have!

I cannot tell you the amount of ambulance claims DENIED. They refuse to pay them. Heck, I appealed a cardiac arrest denial - they would not budge. Their reason? No prior authorization. I mean, if you know you're going to have a major heart attack, just tell it to wait a week so you can get that authorization completed. Should be simple.

Having to tell these individuals that they're responsible for the bill is ridiculous and never should have to happen. Our local VA hospital closed the ER - so these individuals cannot even been seen at the VA if they have an emergency.

Sota, Sometimes things happen unexpetedly ? I was in charge of my mothers health decisions toward the end, I was able to visit her a few times during the day and night ! The last day, I was on my way to work, At the last minute i turned my truck to see ma ! instead of the office, I went into her room, Poured a cup of coffee, Sat next to ma, Talked to her, Noticed hesitent breathing, Put my arm around her, She quit breathing ! So glad i was there for her ! How or why did i decide to see her then, ??????

No need to tell me - I deal with every insurance daily.

I just feel bad for the individuals who deserve better.

Sota, I'm sorry for your loss - but glad she is at at peace and you all can breathe a little bit now knowing that.
