Thanks. I just posted in my team thread. I got to the cabin and was splitting some kindling to get the fire going. All I did was bend over to pick it up and something in my back really screwed up. At first I thought I was in real trouble because the pin shot through to my sternum and it freaking hurt. I tried to shoot my bow and I can, but it sure hurts to draw it. It hurts even more when I lean down at full draw. It still remains to be seen if I can climb a tree but like I said in my team thread, I’m going to Motrin up and give it a try this afternoon. If I can climb up I think I’ll be okay. If I get a shot I’m sure that between the Motrin and the adrenaline I’ll be able to make it work.
That sucks Chief. Im only 40 and have a bad back. I feel your pain. Dont push it too hard where you injure it worse. Theres always next season to get that buck. I hope you do get on him though and he still has his rack!
Sorry to hear that. Back pain sucks. I've had a bad one since I ruptured a disk when I was 21. I'm now 57. Don't push to hard. Sometimes if I take a long walk, I can walk it off. Good Luck!
Praying you are okay... and nothing is really out of wack. Chief... I know you realize there's nothing more important than your health. So, with that said, your health is more important than possibly injuring yourself further doing what you love. Take it easy... says this E-4.
If I thought it was a disc or my spine I’d worry more. I’m pretty sure I just pulled a muscle but I did it up right. Motrin seems to take the edge off considerably. Im all set up in a new spot.
They could come from anywhere in this spot , but primarily does will come from in front of me. If a buck comes in he’ll come from behind me. I should add that it’s rare for a buck to come through here in the afternoon after the rut.
It's amazing at how little it takes to tweak the back with age. My last 2 times, probably more, have been nothing more than a slight bend down to pick something up and standing upright again was wrong. Can always feel the "twinge" and know that the next few hours and sometimes days are going to suck. Hopefully it doesn't tighten up overnight if planning a morning sit.
I’m finally down. I got pinned in my tree by a huge group of does. I finally had to use the laser pointer. As they left two more deer came in from behind me. I finally had to laser their butts too. I sure wish they’d show up sooner. Walking out now.
I hope it doesn’t get worse overnight too because I left everything in the stand like I always do to motivate myself to get up the next morning.
On another note, I finally got to see the euro mount that Bubba did in person. He did a fantastic job.
I’m set up for the morning. Walking in on the sleet that had partially thawed and then froze again last night was fun. Besides a little slipping and sliding I think every deer within a mile probably heard me. It was crazy loud. My back wasn’t bad when I got up but when I was putting more wood in the stove it went right back to square one. Crap this hurts.
I'll usually do a 2 day on, 1-2 off routine (of Advil), if I can bear it. Good luck on the back...and the hunt.
