So, after seeing so many deer this morning that I lost count I didn’t see a thing this afternoon. Not even a squirrel. That could be because the primary movement time is just starting. Oh well, tomorrow is another day and another chance.
Those deer less sits are rough. Especially since you have been seeing so many. Makes you second guess your stand locations. I bet tomorrow morning will be your day! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
We will see. The wind is supposed to be about 11-12 mph first thing and it’s out of a good direction for me. It beats the “light and variable” I had this afternoon. If a doe gives me a shot I’m taking it at this point. Besides, if i see a buck it will be before the does show up.
Thanks! Tomorrow might be interesting. A good friend here close to our cabin invited me over for dinner and and so that I could wash my hunting clothes. I was about to leave and I went back in for the laundry. The step up from the deck to the threshold is higher than normal. I missed it, tripped and came down hard on my left knee. It hurt but I brushed it off. I thought that only my pride was hurt but it’s throbbing now and it’s starting to swell up a little. I still have 5 days to hunt this trip. I swear I’ve had some really crappy luck this season.
I saw several deer out in cut snow covered bean fields today at 12-1400. Without a care in the world (season is 2 weeks over here.) ...all slicks though.
A group of seven bucks came out of the thicket 70 yards south of me and went west. Two of them were good ones.
Glad you found her but yeah that rots. Coyotes and Fox are starting to become my enemy. Gonna have to put some down.
That's got to be exciting and frustrating at the same time. Obviously they are back into bachelor groups?
That rots, sucks getting old, we dont bounce like we used to. My shoulder still hurts from dragging the two deer out.
I would say some of them are. Probably most, but there are still some loners like the one I’m hunting this afternoon and tomorrow. I’m back in the other spot this afternoon. If a doe shows up then at this point I’ll shoot also.
Okay. Sitting in the tree giving it some time. He was feeding straight to me. He went behind a tree at 20 and I drew. He came out from behind me the tree quartering to me at 17 yards. I’m about 18 feet up. I settled the pin a little high in front of his front shoulder. Just as I got settled he looked up and saw me but it was too late. The arrow was on its way. Didn’t get a full pass through but about 3/4 of my Grim Reaper CarniFour tipped arrow was in him. Now I’m waiting.
