Nice! Good chance something swings by as it seems they always do. Is the wind good for you at that spot Friday morning?

So who's been scouting shed sites and getting ready to pick up some white gold?

This is the main buck I want to find the set from or at least a side from. He was 8 1/2 this year, but the hard thing is he is very nomadic and travels between a big tag alder swamp on public through a neighbor, and then ultimately feeds on mine. Based on last pics before he dropped they could be honestly anywhere between his bedding and my property (1.5 mile jaunt).

In Utah you can gather sheds statewide with no permit any time of the year except from Feb. 1 to April 15. During this time of the year, you must have an antler-gathering certificate on your person while collecting shed antlers or horns. You take a little online course and test to get that certificate. I’m not for sure of the exact number but I bet 70% of our winter range is public land. Shed hunting has got quite popular here. I get lucky ever so often and find a deer or elk shed. My son has got lucky enough to find two antelope sheaths.

Zack that bucks a beast! Hope you find his sheds and get a chance at him next year.

I'll wait on shed hunting till it warms up or some snow melts. Put a couple cameras up after gun season. One half mile north on a small turnip food plot and the other half mile south in some thick bedding. Surprised me with all the deer and bucks still around. At least a dozen different bucks on camera. A few have shed last week.

Good luck to team still hunting! Seems to be a tough year for late season hunters.

Oh how I would love to go on an out west shed hunting trip. Maybe couple it with a Merriam turkey tag for public. Kill two birds with one stone (pun intended lol)

Yeah he is a freak of nature. Northern Wisconsin whitetail that has fought through 8 seasons of wolves, bear, severe weather, public land hunters, and he still just comes out bigger each year. I have a shed of him as a 4 year old taped around 70" and a same side shed as a 6 where he went 74". This current rack dwarfs both of those years. We roughed him in the 180's, and honestly has/had the potential to be the biggest typical killed in the county I hunt. Problem is that too many public land hunters don't realize how to hunt winds or thermals so they end up blowing out his entire bedding zone.

I told my wife that I plan on putting on 50+ miles for those antlers this year, and got told I am supposedly "crazy". However, she did say I can throw them on a form and cape if I find both!

My thoughts? I’m hunting my butt off here at Wattensaw WMA.

I’ve only had one sit this trip where I didn’t see deer. I was covered up in deer this morning.

Today makes a week I’ve been here and I was thinking about taking this afternoon and tomorrow morning off but all the deer I saw this morning changed my mind.

I’m still in my tree right now but the wind is really starting to swirl. I’d better get down and out of here soon.

I’ve passed on a lot of does trying to get a buck but I’m through with that. From now until the trip is over I’ll shoot a mature doe if I get the chance.

My season ended with zero points. First time in 40 years that I did not kill a single deer. I was full of empty promises and let you guys down unfortunately. I really hope we can still win so I can make it up to you next year. I should have at least put a doe down early season to guarantee the 50 points, but we had lots of issues with my wife's mother and my mother also and it kept me way too busy. The late season turned into a bust because I sold my Insurance Agency and getting the agency transitioned has taken all my time. I was going to hunt on private in Wayne county for a late season doe and my buddy that owns the land had hound hunters chasing coyotes without permission over the weekend that I could go. So, he called and I stayed home. Sincerest apologies guys, like I said, I hope I can get a chance to redeem myself with you next year.

No worries Fletch. We all know life gets in the way sometimes.

Im still trying hard here in Arkansas and Brett said he was still hunting. I believe he said he was taking tomorrow off to try and kill that photogenic doe he’s got there.

As for me right now I’m waiting on a deer to walk out of this thicket:
