Well sadly I ended up failing you on the 50 point doe kill. Went out last weekend, and of course had a swarm of my up and comer bucks in front of me, but does ended up feeding up in a different food plot. Happy to at least contribute my buck points, but think this is the first year for at least 5 years or so that I hadn't shot a doe with my bow. Hoping the rest of the team can make up where I fell short and next year I GUARANTEE a doe if our team is still together.

I shall sit in my shame this weekend with an unfilled doe tag in one hand and an ice fishing rod in my other hand.

Honestly the crazy thing is I basically only had one good hunt for seeing deer and shot my buck, then next night saw two and shot antlerless...outside that 48 hour window I had a TERRIBLE year. Blessed to have been able to even help at all truly.

My money is on Brett nailing something next. Just got a feeling.

I also still think Fletch and Chief add something.

Been there before on pictures. Shoot I think last year I lost a deer point wise I even got the shot on film, but didn't film the recovery moment which is in the rules.

Yup i have a pic of her dead beneath me but doesnt count. I shot another doe right after her and hit back. Turned into a goose chase and a time battle against the heat to get the first doe to a cooler. In the mayhem it just slipped my mind. My buddy skinned her and cut her head off before i could get back.

I made it home from Arkansas this morning.

I got all my clothes washed and at 2:00 I got set up on my place. I saw nothing until 25 minutes until dark.

Six does crossed my property 60 yards away then turned right and fed 50 yards away until almost dark. Finally they started to go the other way.

As soon as they headed out I heard deer behind me. Four more does were coming and they were walking the edge of the cut over. The lead doe got to 30 yards right at last light. I could see her but I knew it wasn’t a good idea to try so I didn’t.

Still, it was good to see 10 deer on my place.

My season in Missouri is finished. I ended up not hunting yesterday afternoon or today. I’m just tired and need a break to get ready to head back to Arkansas Monday. Also, my wife is on a hiking trip and I don’t care for hunting without someone who can blood trail on standby.

I don’t recall if I posted it here in the team thread, but on my last trip the USB plug on my Scentlok Reactor heated vest broke and it simply isn’t repairable. I know because we tried.

Im working with Scentlok now trying to see if there’s anything they can do. Personally I think placing such a flimsy USB plug in the jacket pocket location was a poor design choice. Having it sticking out of the battery pack around the waist area makes it bend anytime you sit down or bend over.

It would have been a much better design to put it in a chest pocket.

Anyway, I’ll be facing my coldest temps yet next week and my vest doesn’t work. I can’t afford a new one now so it should be interesting.

the foot warmers that adhere are life savers for me in bitter cold. Stick one to each kidney once on stand. Two more on chest or gut, lower back if needed and even chest and back of neck. I know sounds nuts but lifesavers

I plan on adding a heated vest next year to my arsenal but it would be a vest, no sleeves style as a mid layer. Glad to hear they work so well it is definitely missed when gone

I actually use the big adhesive body warmers when I don't have the vest. I find putting one on each thigh and one on either side of my chest keeps me pretty warm.

I've been using them on my thighs but since my vest died I've burned through my supply so I'm placing another order for a box of all three: Toe Warmers, Body Warmers and Adhesive Body Warmers. I don't need that many for the hunting that I have left, but as soon as hunting is over I switch to bass fishing and still need them.

100 points there and your wife won’t let you shoot them.

You need to convince her to let you “take one for the team”. Literally.
