Holes did not flood but getting to the spot was a ***** hugged the shoreline on the way back to the landing it was better. Bite was so damn neutral I pulled in 3 bluegills not because the fish tugged but slack line on the drop, nothing kept we ate spaghetti instead of fish.

I did lose a real nice crappie right at the hole, and that always sucks. I was shocked only 8-10" of ice out there. There will be no castles on the lake this year for sure.

The snow insulates the ice more than you think

You would think that enduring days of subzero temperatures would get you something. Turned up the heat in the garage to get the ice off then have to open up the house to dry it out. Sure like the new auger cuts like a dream no fumes in the house no coaxing it to start.

So we finally had enough ice on the pond at the new farm to pop a few holes and see how deep it was. I was able to find 9’ of water before I started getting sketched out, the last hole spider webbed as it broke through. My butt puckered a bit and I decided that was far enough.

Managed to catch two crappies really quick and then left two fish structure balls on the ice to drop through once things melt this spring.

Been watching some New Zealand river fishing for trout and salmon. Looks like heaven on earth.

I think Jim Shockey has done several hunts in Siberia... Breathtaking landscape.

Watched a pick up try and pull a castle out on the lake, he made it further than I thought he would before he was buried in slush.

I watched him pull down to the boat landing and grabbed the binoculars and told the wife watch this dumbass. Had he hugged the shore line he may have made it, he chose the shortest path between two points gambled and lost. It is -10 out there he does not have long before all that slush he tore up is going to freeze.

It is now 11:30 and 5 degrees the house has been stuck since about 7:30 will be froze in tight by sundown, have to believe that there will be damage getting a froze in castle out of the ice. Walleye is only $15 a pound.
