Will never forget going to my daughter's parent teacher conference when she was in 1st grade, the kids all made a journal. One of the topics was favorite thing you have done, my daughter's response was butchering chickens with her Dad. The pictures she colored were pretty funny, her teach was taken back a little.
Going thru the book of my Grandma Honey's recipes to make christmas eve meal. Will have a few dishes from her recipes and one from my Mom as well. Will be just my immediate family for Christmas Eve exactly how I want it. I am 10 ply soft about my children there is nothing I appreciate more than a family dinner with my kids, grandkids, and wife. I will probably get misty and the feels when they are here, I may be an a-hole but nobody appreciates what I have in my life and kids more than I do. It is such a great feeling to have my tribe at the lake, it's all theirs in a trust when I go.
Everytime I drive by the Red Lobster in my beat area I think of my wifes grandparents. I met them for lunch there almost 25 yrs ago before we were married. Some sweet, yet tough people. One a second generation with Russian and Czech roots and the other a 1st Gen from the Czech Republic. Fled Europe during WWII. Her grandma had this thick Czech accent and could play any instrument, speak several languages, and was just a real dominant female who spoke honestly. So serious yet would laugh if someone called her bluff. Old school. They are missed.
When your boss mentions to Todd Graff that he has an employee who is a big fan of the website and show and has two young kids who are fans as well, and the next time Todd comes into the yard he brings along some gifts for the kids. This is why I am such a loyal fan to this site and this show. Quality product run by quality people.

I should've considered better estate planning, a trust or something. I forgot about the tax ramifications. Oh shoot, and so close to the end of the year. But I think I'll make my, albeit humble contribution, to building back better... Or hoping to see gas once more under $3/gallon.
Jury duty got canceled for me next week. So now a full week of putting flooring in at my son's place. Not quite sure if I won on that one. Let us see... jury duty... getting paid milage and for my time to sit and relax on my last week of vacation. Not to mention playing God on some poor worthless souls' bad choices should he, she, it or them be guilty. Flooring... 150 mile round trip per day and not getting paid milage. 10 or more hours per day of ripping up carpet and old flooring just to kneel putting the new flooring in and not getting paid for it. I will be in worse shape going back to work then I was when leaving work to go on vacation.
So the other day the wife asks me what the plan is for Christmas, I thought it was a trick question because I figured we were headed down to her parents to sit around for 8 hours. Nope not the case, we have no plans to go anywhere. I will be on my couch watching football with the only person I enjoy watching football with my son.
Smoked chickens yesterday. Going to try bacon for the first time next week along with Canadian bacon which I have done before.
