Damn, just checked the Thursday night game, Chiefs at Chargers. Could be an OT type game.

I'll be out though, need to get my 4 wheeler before mice get into the wiring or worse.

I think 2016 was the last time I killed 2 deer and a couple years before that for my last doe.

It's only 8:21 and I'm totally exhausted. I guess the past couple of days is catching up with me.

I guess I'm going to call it a night so the 4:30 alarm doesn't hurt quite so much. The older I get the more difficult it gets to keep up this pace.

Like I said earlier, I really need to kill a deer during the morning sit so I'm not up so late. Still, I take them where and when I can get them.

I'll hit it again in the morning.

I went back and looked at that trail cam I had out for a couple months. Nearly every big buck that moved in daylight moved during a high northwest wind...15 plus mph. Very interesting.

Been set up for a while. Had two deer walk by close in the dark.

    Almost daylight now.

If nothing but Fergie bucks are going to walk by then I wish a doe or two would show up.

If I don’t see something bigger before this trip is over I may end up putting an arrow through one.

Maybe not that little 5 point but that half rack buck was a good one.

Well I'm back in disgusted with myself and happy at the same time. I checked watch 6:45, 20 mins. till legal. I said to myself God please at least let me see deer. So lesson learned be more specific dummy. 10 mins later I notice a dark blob were there wasn't one earlier. I glass and see a deer feeding 46 yrds away. Great! As I'm adjusting to get the scope on it I lookup and there's another 15 yrds away. Super! It's still pretty dark out and these. are two very dark young deer. They are feeding but very spooked up due to high winds. As they feed in 15 yrds directly in front of me I see a third lighter colored and much bigger deer. I thought Mom until I heard a grunt. A Buck but Even at 20yds I can't see the rack. Winsda gusting and 2 smaller ones are bolting here and there between eating. That's when the buck spooked and raised his head for me to see a tall rack. I thought it was the tall 6 and decided to shoot.. I'd ranged everything the day before in case things happened fast. As I set the tripod for the shot He spooked again and was moving away. I checked watch again. And it's 7:05 just legal he was moving out feeding and I was on him for a broad side. He finally took those steps and I knew he was between 48 and 35 I brought the sights up to my 40 mark and thought I was low enough on him squeezed and heard a hit as he hunched and ran behind pines and stopped. The other deer just stood there. . I lost sight and waited a half hour to get bolt. What I found was a clean broken bolt, knock missing. I had shot clean over his back. his hunching was spooking at the sound of bolt striking a rock in ground. Pizzed I just grabbed the cam card,to see what it captured and came home. None of that, but at 12:34 a tall rack light colored fork horn. So happy about the clean miss on a deer I would not have shot pizzed at the miss and the broken bolt. Now mindful of the asks I make.. pPease God let me see and kill a good buck......
Winds getting worse and rain on the way I still may go out this after noon we will see. I do need to pick up some things I left out there.
