I had to put my dog down today. Family pet for 14 years. Buddy - rip. BLK lab/ rottweiler mix. The worse thing was calling my two adult children to tell them that Buddy was gone. (23 and 21 yr old).
It's horrible. I still think about my last dog and it's been around 4 years. This year my girls are getting a puppy for Christmas, so going to be nice have a great friendship to start again. Nothing can stop the way you feel and nothing will replace it. Just enjoy all the great stories from over the years! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
We had to do the same thing with our GSP in September. I didn't have a dog growing up, so my boys and I got experience losing our first dog together. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be.
Let me tell you, it doesn't get easier. Many hugs to your family today and days ahead. They leave permanent paw prints in our heart.
So sorry for you and your family's loss, no it will not get easier over time, they are forever in our hearts. I have to remind my self that they are at peace, not suffering and had a great life.
Even though I don't know you, it breaks my heart knowing what you had to do. Sorry for your loss Mud.
To this day the hardest thing I ever had to do was shoot a dog. I balled my head off when I buried dogs I loved, I sat by my beloved grandmothers bedside when she passed, still hardest thing was directly putting down a bad dog.
