Our first split opened yesterday, but didn’t have the chance to get out. Went out this afternoon to hunt the falling tide and little Boomer had him some fun.

Nice little morning yesterday. Was able to scratch out a few. Couple of drake mallards (one a hybrid, I’m thinking a mallard X black duck cross) 2 hen mallards and a black duck. Then on the walk back to the boat pair of spoonies buzzed us and my buddy was able to take the hen.

Went out this morning to a buddy’s floating blind near the house for a quick hunt before some family time today and got skunked. Birds were flying just not wanting to commit. Boomer wasn’t amused! Our first split closes tomorrow for two weeks then back at it.

    Boomer looks pissed. Lol

My last lab wouldn't even look at me at the end of the day if I missed a bunch. Haha

All froze up around me, lake is not froze shut yet. It has been fun watching the trumpeter swans get up on the ice from the water. Beautiful birds not sure how they could be confused with any other bird.

I've been seeing them around here in the picked crop fields. In the summer I see them in the cranberry reservoirs. Up until 5 years ago I didn't know we had wild swans. I thought people had bought them to put in their ponds etc.

I’ve never seen them in numbers before like we did last year. Snow goose hunting up in Lebanon, PA we saw them in pretty big groups over the corn. It was pretty amazing.

Not the best pics, I screen shot them from a couple videos I have from that hunt, but still pretty cool.

Got her all re-sprayed, light bar installed/switch wired up, and motor mounted back onto transom. Going to try to head out tomorrow to grass.

Going to pull the synthetic grass mats on the Duck Boss and re-grass with salt hay also. Just keeping busy trying to get all our ducks in a row until we open back up.

Been so busy with work lately, but the boats got grassed couple weeks ago and we’ve been able to go on a few decent hunts. Closed our deal finally and should have more free time now to hunt so I’m looking forward to the rest of the season!

DuckBoss looks way better with salt hay than those synthetic mats from the previous owner….

An absolute giant mallard and a bonus ring neck. Slow day but better then work. Not many birds seen this morning. Only had 2 groups work. Anyone else been slinging steel? 20220114_093954.jpeg 20220114_104418.jpeg

Nice work! Been after it whenever I get a chance. Been tough hunting lately, stale birds and we got a real cold push down, which is awesome, but it unfortunately locked up all the small water we like to chase them in. It's warming up a little now and lots of rain so lots of these places are starting to free up and with the cold we've had I've been seeing a good push of birds move in. Hopefully last of the season will be good. Have some snow moving in next weekend so excited for that! Here's a few from recent hunts.
