Well been out with the rifle hunters the last two days. Tired of climbing up and down VT's hills without seeing anything. So today I sit in a stand with my crossbow. Sitting over a Turnip, sugar beat plot. Traditionally the bigger deer come to the plots after snow. We just got 5" of snow overnight. Been a few deer in here already from the tracks. Good luck everyone!

Forgot to update after the morning hunt with my son. He ended up taking about an 80 yard shot at a doe around 8:30. We thought he hit her because she ducked and spun hard, sprinted about 40 yards and then slowed and looked like she maybe was limping as we lost sight of her in the trees. Unfortunately, she made it across the property line after she was out of sight. I was able to find her tracks in the leaves where she had turned them over and followed them to the property line. Never found a drop of blood though. He must have just grazed her.

After we stopped hunting, I shot my rifle and was about 4” Low and 3” right at 100. Explains why I missed that doe at 140 last night, I knew that shot felt good. Would have been off a little more at 140. I got it dialed back in before we headed home.

Now my complaining. I was in NJ Monday to Wednesday. We saw very little. We came home Thanksgiving morning. I almost turned around and went back after dinner to hunt Friday- Sunday, but I was thinking of all the things of life I had to do. Now I wish I had. Buck under my afternoon stand yesterday and today. I just can't get the timing right this year. Its killing me.

Great buck, we’re you hunting that deer or was it just killed by your spot. Stinks, but that’s the nature of the beast. What’s he got going on with cleaning that deer up? Looks like he was skinning to the head the whole way up the back.

This is first blood 30 yards from where I shot a nice doe. What y’all think? It’s a little too runny for my liking

It's public land. I found his scrape line a couple weeks ago... Thurs, he looked around me 30 minutes before legal. I sat a good bit further down, where I thought his line was this morning, but he was on another trail nearby... 5 minutes to legal and winded me. I Mentone above, I could hear his heavy horns hitting limbs as he darted off.

I relocated this afternoon thinking he'd swing by the bedding area... He was killed on the opposite side from where I was sitting... Headed towards the bedding area.

The other guy saw movement, he stepped onto an old road and he shot him... Kudos to him. But I'm pretty sure that was the only buck over 2 on that parcel.

It is, and he was caping it for a shoulder mount. I asked if I could help, as I don't think he knew how to sleeve the fronts... Was waiting on his brother.

Is that the only blood you found? It doesn't look terrible, but for a rifle shot it isn't great either. Where do you think you hit her?

I’ve found more blood. Just was taking it slow. I think I hit her behind the shoulder midways. I rushed it a bit because she heard me flip the safety

It’s turned into occasional little “pools” and quarter size drops

I love it, OND. Your stories always make me laugh. Not the plugged drain part at all. I can just visualize your story about the dog.
