Agree with tink. Talk with land owner first. Do you know how he came to get permission? Hopefully not a family member. People get defensive when their kin are accused of being a dumb ass! Hopefully land owner is somewhat aware of your game laws and wont want the bad deeds of another to reflect on him

I'm digging this mid day stuff. Got in at noon and left at 4:45. Still had about 45 minute left but I promised a friend I'd be at his house by dark. Not a great sit but had deer filtering by often enuff to make it fun.. Seen about 12 and they were all within 15 yards. Only 1 2 year old buck. He's missing a browning. Bad genetic here. He's a horny bastard and chases anything with a tail. Gonna try n sit in the morning then I need a break. Fun tickets need replenishment.

To close out my day, saw a doe and fawn just before dark. Then came home to the smoke alarm blaring away. House full of smoke. Seems the clean out cap on the pellet stove exhaust pipe came off. WTF?!?! Its been running a couple days.
So her husband was the one that always gave me permission, but he passed away in 2020 so the wife gave me permission this year. I dont think she knows the game laws much, but I think I will get her a gift card or something as a "thank you" and tell her what the other guys are up to.

Well phone was misplaced with ringer off. Got a call then text from neighbor, he shot yesterday's 8 this morning and asked permission to retrieve I obviously didn't respond until now. But told him I Assumed he went in and apologized for not getting back thanked him several times for calling. Had a good text exchange and I congratulated him. Finally neighbors getting it on being good neighbors with respect...Good opening day for sure.
I'm done until Thanksgiving. Property needs the rest. Guess one buck was shot last night(shotgun), head on shot to the chest at 40'ish yards. Tracked it a long ways and no recovery so that end of the property needs time to settle. Then another guy who only gun hunts and is generally lazy about it. Sits on a bucket in the middle of the field. Took a shot at something and denied it and immediately left. Not sure if deer was hit or not. He was also offended when he wanted to sit on top of a ridge and hunt. Was another and his son sitting in a groundblind down below and concern was raised over slinging slugs and it wasn't safe. I guess he took offense to ut and called one of the other hunters all pissed off. I'll avoid any drama and be back out Thursday.
