Come on out of this river bottom mess. Some hunts you just need to have fun. Have no idea what I'm doing.

Daughter decided to hunt with her Bo, so I walked up on top of the mountain. Im on the ground with the crossbow at the edge of an overgrown field surrounded by hardwoods. Gonna do a bunch of calling, see what happens.

I had no intentions on hunting today. My buddy saw that buck last night and then got pictures this morning… have to do it. We are both out here. Every year I have 1 sit where I just take it all in and enjoy nature with a cold Busch Latte. Today is that day. Really no intentions on shooting anything. Just a beautiful November afternoon here in central MN.

    Good luck everyone! [IMG]

I’ve been set up for an hour now. I have no confidence in an afternoon sit on a full moon but it’s overcast and a front is moving in tonight.

Maybe something will move before dark.

Incidentally I woke up this morning feeling fantastic. Best I’ve felt in two and a half weeks.

Oh ye of like faith. While not exactly on the actual full moon, Thursday night I had my best buck to date this year show up right about sundown. Nice tall tined 8. I had to let him walk because I already filled my buck tag. Never count a sit out until shooting light ends!

Way to drop the hammer OND.

I'm back in my big buck stand.
I hunted 200 yards from here Friday night and saw nada. I normally see 6-20 each time out. This year, very few sightings. I'm not blaming the guy that hunted without permission. I simply am not seeing deer in this area as much. In 15 years if hunting, the 20 acre field west of me has always been beans or corn. They planted winter wheat and it is nice and green. I hardly ever see deer in it. Does ww draw deer like beans/corn? We had a dry late summer. Need to ask a couple of guys if they have found EHD deer dead. A brother and sister pair of fawns walked by. Good luck tonight. 20211120_160949.jpg

Winter wheat is very good when everything else is brown. I’m sure they will be using soon if not already.

ok remember the story of the guys that got permission a few weeks ago to hunt the same property ive hunted for 5 years? so im texting with one of the guys that now hunts the same property i hunt. We are just talking about what weve seen and such. He then bring up the line "hunting private is kinda like what happens in vegas stays in vegas, i do my own butchering"...now that got me thinking because you need a tag to have your deer processed at places in MN. SO i asked if he tagged any deer he shot this year and he said he used his tag and his wifes tag on two bucks. then says "remember laws r only there to break just dont get caught so keep this to yourself". I said i would appreciate if he didnt shoot all the deer off the property and to at least save me one. he then goes "dont worry basically just does now leaving bucks alone seen 2 does"...

how do i proceed? this is all in text message so i do have that record, but how else do i go about this?

7 weeks of hunting. Not one instance of chasing or even a buck walking 30 mins behind a doe. I dont care how much mental resolve one has, makes for a tiring season. I still don't feel right after getting sick on Nov 3. Energy still lower than normal.

That’s not good. By the sound of it I would assume his wife doesn’t hunt? Like she wouldn’t be out there with him when he took a 2nd buck and used her tag?

That is someone very comfortable with poaching to share that with someone he’s only just met.
So, do you want to share your hunting property with a poacher?
Is he and his family barely scraping by and they really need the meat? That’s about the only reason to look the other way IMO.
