Plan change...decide winds too wild on top so did a slow stalk down to new open blind. Half way down the hill I Spot bedded deer. Thought spike, wasn't sure but it had spotted me. We had a stand off for a bit and I decided to continue. JC guy behind me decided to now target his shot gun sounded lIke a bluster gun!....sure he is with Just 2 Shots night before gun opener... in the middle of his pines not near the house. Yes ,of guys here I am a synical. He's probably trying to beat the hunter between us,who is in for gun. Actually someone in a truck showed up as I was getting to the blind could be him. All I know...it pushed deer on to us..Explains the morning doe walk by. Winds dying down and snowing. Deer didn't seem pushed too hard they were just walking our woods last sighting. Wind is good for a cross over from pines or up out of neighbors swamp. They are still hitting sorghum and clovers in it. Geez that was long...lol....sorry I've been a lone too long..... Absolutely gorgeous night. Just a touch of SW breeze blowing in the right direction. I'm after bucks only through this weekend....or maybe until the end of the month. 39 degrees.
No jinx? Really! A lone doe pops up out of the swamp...looking behind her. Walks into shooting range and guy across street come up hill and pulls into newly stoned drive...off she ran into our woods WTH!
Had a good sit, 11 doe and 6 buck. Only shots on the bucks ! Took a sweet pic of the moon on my way out.
In for an afternoon hunt. Not a lot of confidence they’re going to move in this weather, snowing pretty good. Sitting in blind to keep out of the weather, the black powder sidelock got the nod today.
