Going to get a shower then heading in deep on public land in search of a doe and a good spot to set up for the opening day of rifle if I hunt here. Have about a 1.2 mile walk in, or 500 yards straight up hill, the wind will be coming down hill by dark so I’m leaning towards still hunting up to about 3/4 of the way up the ridge… we will see what happens!

Drizzle, winds picking up more west than the SSW they said. Everything sounds like a deer to me after yesterday. I am going to have a sore neck tomorrow. Birds , squirrel and rt. Above my head a red tail crow fight. Hawk got his tail feathers whipped by 2 nasty crow. Decoys deployed, set deeper and doe bleat came out. Checked one cam on way in I think yesterday's buck is on it that or a real big doe.

Looks like beef farmer is hunting big boy as well. Parked truck halfway to line along pines and is hunting corner parrell to me. Games on.

Might throw in the towel on gun season. Might get a 2nd wind this afternoon but not looking good. Might just have some beers and watch the Vikings lose again.

Geez maybe not....bunch of noise then truck disappeared...either he got something or was setting a stand for next Saturday. I packed it in and am having lunch ,prepping dinner then going back out.
Tall rack.at 5 :40 doe at 4:50 yesterday. And a button buck at 10: 20 this morning as I hunted farther in.I just may have to hit the garden stand tonight. I haven't been there in a month or more.

Debated going out this am, decided not to.

Kicking myself, but at the same time, can't help but think that to accomplish what I want to on my farm, should let this guy go. But I haven't killed anything of real size since getting back into bow hunting 5 years ago. Killed plenty with guns, but I am not sure I have the willpower not to shoot this deer with a bow. [IMG]

I’m finally set up, been walking around since 11 trying to find fresh sign, found some buck sign wayyyy back in but talked myself out of sitting there due to only have a doe tag in my pocket, went to another spot I had hunted earlier this year and there was some sign but I pushed up the hill further and didn’t find much more, so here I am plan C, in my dads killing tree, dad and I have killed a lot of deer from this tree but we didn’t hang a stand here this year, first sit here if the hear love this spot!

Home for the next 27 hours or I shoot a big buck - whichever one comes first!

    Bow hunting tonight.

Gun season starts in the morning!

Big buck only (by Michigan standards).
